Don't have the arrows so don't miss them in the R3. R3 has been so good and I have it quiet now , hard to get rid of.

I would go R7, I too was a long time V1 user and really like the arrows which is why never changed. Still have and use my V1(latest software) in the DD or wife’s car, the R7 in the GTS, what prompted the R7 was being tagged on the Blue Ridge with no advanced notice from the V1 hoping longer range and better sensitivity help, but might have been just bad luck with instant on and corners. Also R7 has gps and more processing capabilities so when escort patent runs out and site based false alerts they have a firmware upgrade ready to go, R3 won’t get that.

I recently used Waze on a 2500 mile trip on the east coast and I am convinced that law enforcement is using it to provide false positives. The great thing about waze is that it only works for a minute until someone tags the sighting as bad. The more everyone uses the system the less effective law enforcement will become in revenue generation. I also use a remote lidar blocking and RF detection system but find the two together are near foolproof. Nothing can fight instant on but Waze. Buy a mount where you can see your phone or get the droid adaptation where your phone screen shows up on your audio touch screen.

Regarding the R7 (or my previous R3), Waze would not have saved me. Recently, a black SUV travelling in the opposite direction on a country road clocked me with Ka radar. The R7 is senstive enough that I got plenty of warning and was able to slow down.

Thanks for the tip. With CarPlay, I can display Waze on the PCM screen in my 18 C4S so don't need a phone mount. I haven't really done much research on laser jammers. The newer ones from Escort are supposedly wireless. Is there a concern that if the LEO suspects that they were jammed and prevented from speed enforcement, they would stop you anyway?

Yes, Never leave jammers on - if you get hit, slow down and then when at a safe speed turn jammers off so LEO can get a reading. You need to be quick in slowing down and turning off jammers - should not take longer than about 3-4 seconds.

Thank you. Requires fast reflexes. Braking and taking one hand off the steering wheel to turn off the jammer. The higher the speed, the greater the risk obviously.

Hmm, sounds like the jammers should be built with accelerometers to deactivate themselves when the driver comes off the brakes.

I remember using the escort when it was this metallic brick you put on your dashboard. When Mr. Valentine broke away from Escort and started Valentine One I started using V1. I love the arrows and bogey number. It Must be at least 20 years ago. But now that technology has gotten better I am willing to change. I will get the R7 and give it a try.
Does the R7 show # of bogies? Do you think that’s important ?

Thinking about getting the R7 but after watching Vortex's recent vid showing significant variability in the R7's undetectability, I think I 'll wait till they (hopefully) iron out those bugs. RD's are legal in my state but I'm still paranoid about a LEO pulling me over just because I have one.

If you live in a state where they are legal, I doubt that they would have a radar detector detector and pull you over for it, or that they would purposely pull you over just for having one. If you were concerned about them seeing it, get a custom installed unit instead.

They are legal in the state where I live and I have it mounted above the sport chrono clock. I can see the warnings clearly and can access the mute button easily. The detector is quite large (compared to the R3) and with my EZ pass, I couldn't find enough room to mount it high. I haven't had any issues with LEOs pulling me over simply for having a detector.

One thing I noticed is that the 12 volt plug in the cord supplied with the R7 doesn't fit well in the passenger footwell outlet. I used the cord from my R3.

Mines mounted up by the mirror, hard wired a power cord up there. Also check put blend mount for mounting on the mirror.

Can’t imagine them even checking in a state where they are legal. Just don’t drive with it on in Virginia or DC.
