Uniden R7
I just bought a new Uniden R7 which is priced at 600 bucks and has directional arrows like the V1. Was using an R3 before, that I loved. Saved me numerous tickets. The R7 is significantly bulkier than the R3 so that is a disadvantage. The mute and mark buttons have been moved to the side instead of the front. The detector appears to be more sensitive than the R3. Only downside is that it falses on K band from blind spot monitoring systems much like the R3, perhaps more. Other than that, it seems like a very nice upgrade. Has saved me at least a couple of tickets.

Too bad that is suffera from K band false alarms. I thought that the R7 would address this issue.
Bulkier than than a V1?
Hard to live without arrows once you use them.
Waze and a radar detector are a great combo.

I used to use Waze along with a Passport 9500ix in my 981 BS. Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, I got a lot of falses from Waze. Maybe LEOs are also using it as camouflage?
Regarding the R7 (or my previous R3), Waze would not have saved me. Recently, a black SUV travelling in the opposite direction on a country road clocked me with Ka radar. The R7 is senstive enough that I got plenty of warning and was able to slow down.

For me the fact has gps will let it be much better than V1 long term as soon as auto learn is enabled for stationary false hits.

I have and use an R3 and Waze together. The 2 condom approach.
Did the most recent update and some adjustments and have eliminated many of the blind spot falses
Like it too much to get rid of it.

I am considering getting a Uniden R3. I have been a user of Valentine 1 since they came out. Recently I think my V1 gets a lot of K band false alarms. Do you guys think the Uniden R3 is better than theV1? Is it worth trying the R3?
Thanks

I have not watched the latest vortex stuff but when the r7 1st came out it did not seem to be much better than the r3 other than arrows. My r3 lately has become the accura warning indicator. I now ignore that freq which will be bad if leos run the same. The r7 seems bulky, powers from the opposite side and angles for left-hand drive. It's almost twice the price. The other thing I see lately is instant on everything. It seems the cops are only turning on the units briefly when they spot the obvious offender. I rarely pick up the leo constantly running radar unless he has already parked after the pullover. The vortex guy also put out a video that stated firmly that uniden was a one man show and that the one guy left. A second video back peddled on that theory. Perhaps I should update but I think I have the latest.

One man show meaning radar detector division...

I got the R7 a few weeks ago, I had to turn off K band because it falsed so much. It already saved me a few times on KA band where the cop was hiding and only switching the gun on when cars went by, I think the extra sensitivity came in handy. I also didn't notice the mute buttons were on the side, reaching into the passenger footwell to mute with the power jack button was driving me crazy.

I think that you might miss your directional arrows if you get the R3.
The 'bulky' size of the R7 would be less of an issue for me if it is similar in size to the V1 (already bulky).
I use the V1+YaV1 which does a great job of blocking out 'false alarms', and it auto-learns as you drive your usual routes.
Will likely get the R7 to get rid of the K band false alarms.

There is a "K Notch" upgrade that help get rid of K band BSM
R7 is customize-able, you can reduce K band sensitivity.
R7 is bulkier than the V1.
