3rd Radiator Heat Reduction Data Points
Looking for some data for 3.8 engine with and without 3rd radiator
Without 3rd Radiator
Highest "Spirited" Driving Temp
Highest Track Temp
With 3rd radiator
Highest "Spirited" Driving Temp
Highest Track Temp
Can anyone with a 3rd radiator and the 3.8 engine tell me how hot they run during spirited driving and tracking driving ?. How about track driving. What is normal full operating temprature for the 3.8 without the 3rd radiator for sprited and track driving ?

I’d be curious to hear from people with the 3.4 engine as well. I’ve yet to hit any heat issues with my 3.4 without the 3rd radiator.
I think 232F was the highest I’ve seen for oil temps.

The 3rd radiator comes with the Sport Chrono option correct? If so I usually see 198-217 with the Sport option engages in my 3.4 C4. Around 248 without sport engages after a hard pass to around 111mph in 80 degree weather. As soon as I pushed the Sport button the temp dropped from 248 to around 217 in under a minute.

Interesting. Then I guess my question is what causes the oil temp in my 3.4 to drop 20-30 degrees in oil temp in under a minute? I figured it was dumping oil from the other radiator. Can't be just a fan coming on especially at speed.

If you have a base 3.4, no 3rd radiator, been that way since 997.

Correct, and their kit fit nicely and I installed it. I asked about after market products and shop recommend factory as it has a better fit and plenty efficient.

There is a COV that enables "something" when you turn on Sport mode that cools the oil further... maybe the "heat exchanger" mentioned here?

Just got home from the track - The FIRM in Starkey FL
Oil temps:
Without 3rdRadiator
Highest "Spirited" Driving Temp : 255
Highest Track Temp: 275 (lower ambient temps)
With 3rdradiator
Highest "Spirited" Driving Temp: Havent tested
Highest Track Temp: 277
Air temp: 95 degrees / Humidity 85%
With the 3rd radiator - oil temps still went to the 270's - BUT the car quickly recovered to lower temps when slowed down.
Another positive is that the water temp did not fluctuate like it did last time. Water temps went up to 210 without the 3rd radiator when I was there last.
