Default Gintani Tune

Anyone ever use Gintani for a tune? They are local to me and have done a few of my friend's cars with impressive results and no issues. They claim their tune is undetectable which I highly doubt.

Didn't they do your car and the tunes for the turbo kit you were peddling?

My M3 was Gintani supercharged. The previous owner paid them over $21k to do the install, upgrade the rod bearings so the engine wouldn't blow (common M3 problem), and some other maintenance things. 10k miles later, right before I was going to sell the car, the engine blew. This is the first engine failure I know of with upgraded rod bearings.

The previous owner of my M3 was not given a tuning cable despite paying them $21k. When I called to ask about it, they said sorry, you have to buy a whole new tune for $1800 to get a cable if you want to be able to flash it back to stock. Every time you call them to ask a simple question, they sound annoyed like you are bothering them. I wouldn't give them a dime. I have heard similar statements from other people that worked with them before.

Maybe the bearings weren't really replaced.

So basically the concensus here is "no, I have not used a Gintani tune". All other answers are irrelevant. Since they are local to you, pay them a visit, give them a chance to earn your business.

Personally I use Dyno Spectrum who are also local in SoCal (Torrance) and very happy with Mitch, Jon and Joe's service.

Can't go wrong with Dyno Spectrum. Mitch and Jon were the Porsche development team at COBB, so yeah, they know a ton about the platforms.

One member got their car tuned at Dyno Spectrum recently.

I'm curious how it would be undetectable.... I mean, all they have to do is drive it once on the street and floor it. Datalog it and see the values are very far from stock tune.

The only stories I ever hear about Gintani are bad ones. Yes, there is a fool from another forum who uses them, but he is as trustworthy as a politician. Same guy has been talking about a header shootout for nearly a year..
Forget about Gintani.

If you are near Dyno Spectrum they would be my first choice in the whole country. Mitch helped create the tune for Cobb and is THE guy to go to.

I spoke with Dyno Spectrum last week and if/when I decide to tune I will only be going to them. For now it's gonna be just HF cats.

I would suggest doing headers too so you only have to get one tune instead of two

I'm planning on sport cats and later down the road(not sure how long later is) a tune. Haven't even considered headers.
