Default 2019 Carrera GTS as daily driver

I've got a 991.2 GTS on order and I'm interested in opinions on comfort as a daily driver. I do about 8,000 miles a year in the LA traffic mess, don't commute for work, and a good portion of my miles are recreational, fun drives. I've had many 911's over the years and my current ride is a manual 2018 base Carrera. I don't track - street driving only. I ordered the car with the standard, non sport, PASM and Carrera S (non centerlock) wheels and my dealer says the car should ride pretty much the same as my current 911. Forgetting about speed and power issues, any thoughts would be appreciated.

You'll be fine, and love it. And you can gain a lot of useful information about the car here in the Forum so when you have time start reading threads that interest you page by page, which is what I did about 6 months before mine arrived and I learned a lot, and still learn more most days.

I drove 1200 miles in 6 days and I would say that it’s very comfortable. The 18 way seats just need to get tweaked appropriately and you will be very comfortable. 8000 per year would not be a problem, for me.

Its an incredibly comfortable and compliant car.

Is it PDK? I have a 4S with PowerKit and PDK. Sounds like the exact same build as you GTS.

I drive it it every day. Rains shine snow... I also take to the track once in a while.

the easiest sports car to just drive.

Same here, drive it every day. One thing I would recommend and that made it a lot better as a DD was lowering the air pressure in the tires to 30/33 COLD. They are great cars made to be driven.

Like any Porsche 911, getting in and out is harder than a normal car. I use comfort exit to help with that. It can get old but once the car is started I don't mind that at all anymore...lol. I've also wished I had a better cup holder a few times. The only thing I cant stand is how once you disconnect your iphone from carplay, it will switch radio sources to XM or whatever. I CANT stand that. I wish it would just kill carplay and be off.

I run into that when I park. I will grab my phone and next thing I know some stupid song off XM is playing. Drives me crazy.

Agree with what your dealer said, 991.2 GTS with the non-Sport PASM should ride essential the same as your current base 2018 Carrera since they have the exact same suspension.

I love my 2018 GTS as a daily driver. The only negative is that the sound insulation is reduced in the GTS. That combined with the louder PSE exhaust can make phone calls really tough for the person on the other end of the line. I ended up getting a headset and turn off PSE when making calls.

That’s why there is a button for the exhaust.
As for cup holder, Ultimate Cup Holder makes a great addition as the over engineered ones in the dash as better just to display German lunacy!

I drive my Carrera T daily 22 miles each way, traffic, potholes, road-rage drivers and all. On occasion detouring through local Newark and Jersey City streets. Or routinely bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic. And everything in between. All in a manual transmission. And there is no other car I'd rather be in.
