Default Auto start stop 991.2 / Power steering

I have a 991.2 carrera.

Quick question:
When you are in normal mode and vehicle comes to a halt, engine shuts off.
Do you also lose power steering?

Try it, but I suspect that as soon as you turn the wheel it will start back up.

I just noticed today.
I usually drive in sport or sport plus.
today I was in normal and engine shut off but also i lost power steering. as soon as you press accelerator everything goes back to normal.
just wanted to know if it is normal behavior or you should still feel the steering after engine shuts off.

I do not think i should lose electric steering when engine shuts off.
Am I mistaken?

Why would you be steering if you are not moving?

But agree that electric power steering might still be active even with engine off.

Wondering the same.

Anyways different things can be powered at different levels of engine operation. No reason for the steering to be powered when the motor is off so if it isn't it would not concern me in the least bit.

i do not have to steer.
I just want to know if it is normal operation or not.
Maybe another 991.2 owner can confirm.

Not to worried since my car is CPO until June 2024 with unlimited miles.

Electric steering shuts off in my 2018 Cayman too, from what I can remember, never worried about it since the auto start stop is always disabled unless I'm in line at In-N-Out

You do lose steering yes. It won't do it in sport or sport plus. You can tug the wheel to the left or right, let off the brake or touch the gas to re-engage.
