Maybe a salvaged tranny and indy shop might cut it much lower.

Not with my 2017 C2S X51 PDK. It is perfect and a pleasure to drive, shifting with my fingertips.
But 3 years ago the manual tranny on my year old 2015 C2S crapped out and was replaced under warranty. I'm not fond of the 991.2 7-speed manual tranny (understatement) for lots of reasons. Nuff said...

To the OP though get the problem diagnosed and if you can get by with adding fluid every so often do it, or top it off and trade it in.

And many more PDKs have crapped out than manuals, and I have driven and owned a lot of manuals over the years and I do not see why there are some complaints with the 991.2 7MT; the one in my GTS is fine, enough said is right.

Had my PDK replaced at around 20K miles. I bought it with a very specific issue where only if the car was being driven uphill upon IMMEDIATE startup, it would shudder for a few seconds and then completely go away. Otherwise worked perfectly and if someone didn't live on an incline, they'd never even know. I was lucky enough for the stars to align where I found a dealer with a hill right out its door and an SA willing to work with me rather than mock the fact that I needed to jump through hoops to reproduce the issue.

I have no idea how the previous owner handled the transmission or drove the car, but other than that issue (and the PDK was flawless other than that very specific issue) the car is 10/10.

Got it taken care of a month before my CPO was up. Very happy it worked out that way. And now very happy I have a brand new PDK in the car.

Although it does appear that we’re reading about more problems with the PDK than manuals however, we need to be reminded that many more P cars are sold with the PDK, perhaps as much as 85%-90%.

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. Our 2014 C2 refused to go with multiple codes indicating a transmission problem. Only 28K miles on it. Used as an every day drive in LA. The PDK was replaced by Huntington (Long Island) Porsche. Dealer provided no info on PDK reliability when asked.

The good news is we still have two months warrant coverage. Everything was covered.
More good news. The Macan loaner was very nice.

Goodwill on a 92k car may be hard to obtain. A few factors could help.

Did you buy it new from Porsche?

Have you serviced it at the dealer for all its maintenance?

Have you owned multiple Porsche’s?

You can certainly try.

Some others on the forum have had much less luck getting understanding of they purchased outside the dealer network.

If you were a regular user of launch control (I know it’s supposed to stand up to the use) I can’t help but believe that it will wear out faster.

When I took delivery of my 991.2 manual, the delivery tech said that you could launch the manual at 4K with a quick clutch release; he also advised not to do it.

Classic marketing technique right LOL? Works with all the major manufacturers who advertise "sports cars". You can use launch control all the time but in the fine print they advise you not to because aggressive driving isn't recommended. I remember when I had my F80 M3, a lot of guys raced their M3's so much that the calipers changed colors. This was done on purpose by BMW so they can void any type of repair work due to racing and abuse.

Personally I cant justify owning something with a complicated black box that automatically costs $16-$20k to repair if anything at all goes wrong with it:

I don't think that those with 7 speed manuals should feel overly secure. since the PDK and manual share a LOT of engineering and parts. The 997 6 speed on the other hand was completely different.

Here it's explained https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...pdk-tech-dept/

FYI my 2015 PDK started leakng oil at 9800 miles and they put in a rebuilt. On the 997 forum there's a GREAT thread on servicing PDK's. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...nsmission.html

My mechanic explained what Porsche does to keep certain parts out of the hands of private mechanics until the car is discontinued for some period of time. It's quite shocking.

Where do you live? There could be a local shop that has done repairs on PDK trannies, there is shop in SOCAL that works on PDK's. There might be shop in your area that does as well.
