Default HELP! 2017 991.2 Carrera Burble/Pops

Hello -

I just picked up a CPO 2017 Base Carrera over the weekend and had a question regarding the exhaust burbles and pops. I've seen videos online that shows burbles and pops coming from the car in Sport Mode... However, my car does not seem to make any of these sounds in Sport Mode (or any other modes). The car does not have PSE, but has Sport Chrono. I first thought that only PSE cars get the burbles and pops, but I'm finding videos of non-PSE cars with burbles and pops. Is something broken? I did it in Sport Mode. Please help!

Thanks!

I can't swear to this, but I'm pretty sure you need PSE for the snap, crackle, pop theatrics. If you turn PSE off while in Sport mode, the theatrics go away.

I have no Sport Chrono. Does make pops and crackles in sport mode. Without PSE, they are very quite.

One of the reasons I did not opt for a 991.2 was the preponderance of those pops and crackles even without the sports exhaust ... it sounded a lot like my 991.1 with the sports exhaust, and I never really liked the Jiffy Pop sound. I would say something is amiss ... probably a vacuum line that's not allowing the valves to open above a certain RPM although that's strictly the WAG method ... Wild *** Guess.

My 991.2 Targa 4 7M does all kinds of gurgles when I downshift and engine brake (non PSE) in Sport Mode - you can hear it with the top-up. Try and downshift into 3rd / 2nd with a rev match that pushes the RPMs into 4.5K+ and then engine brake. If you hear nothing then yeah maybe there is a problem.

Disconnect the vacuum lines and cap them. You will be in Sport mode all the time.

Did a search to find this thread. I have a '17 C2 base with SC, no PSE, bought used as a CPO last June. In over 12 months of driving, I've yet to hear a single snap, crackle, or pop, in any mode, at all from the exhaust. I drive almost exclusively in SPORT mode all the time.

I'm not stressing over this, mostly it's curiosity, but: does anyone with a base C2 that has these noises, know of a guaranteed, specific method or procedure to induce them while driving?
