They can list their car for whatever price they want. Until someone buys it, the asking price is irrelevant.
I agree 100%. Even for my partner’s car, but someone who wants it will contact him and make an offer. I thought it was prudent for him to list it significantly lower than the other comparable ones he saw online.
The majority of private party listings I saw 2 months ago are still around. The market is highly illiquid.
He might think that by listing it lower, he'll just get even lower bids. That might be true, but those bids will be more likely to agree or come close to his asking price if the asking price is fair.
Whereas at his price, he's more likely not to get any bids -- even ones that he'd consider -- because bidders will think the gap is too great to even offer.
There's a bunch of ppl on this thread that have no skin in his game saying it's too high. If he really wanted to sell the car, he'd listen. If he's okay holding the car, then so be it.
If I were holding any kind of 991.2 for sale though, I would want to make sure its priced reasonably so it sells before the 992 comes out as I would imagine there will be a price drop -- even in models that aren't offered right away.
My legal partner just joined the forum and listed his car for sale. He doesn’t have many posts, if any, since he’s new, but he’s been frequenting the site for several years and I’ve been a member for years and can vouch for him and the car. It’s aboslutely sick. I’m a coupe guy and never wanted a Targa, but this car changed it for me. Just wanted to share the ad and ask what people think of the car. Makes my track car (agate gray below) look like a slouch.
I'm a real south Florida buyer. I have a deal on a 2018 Targa GTS from a Porsche dealer certified for 152,600 or not certified for even $150. That's the price. I'm ready. Willing and able. I looked at another in the same price range.
I purchased a new custom ordered 2019 Targa 4 GTS with a higher list price and I paid less new than your partner is asking for a used 2018. It isn't worth his asking price even with a CPO extended warranty from a dealer. I certainly hope is legal opinions are better than his pricing opinions. Nice car. Ridiculous price. (Of course, for my sake, I wish he was right)
I ordered a 2019 Targa GTS and got $10k off the sticker of $165k and have put about that much into it, with another $10k to go, and if I were to sell it I doubt I could get $150k; however, I will get a lot less than that when I actually sell it, in maybe 10 years....love the car.

Yes price way too high for deal to look attractive. Must be nice to have a friend marketing and selling the car for him though.
not sure I understand your post. We’re both car guys and love taking cars. I offered to help him since we’re both busy (if you read my initial post, we’re not just friends but legal partners. Both attorneys). I have no skin in the game. I’m not making any money by helping him. I offered because I love the car and someone who buy this is likely to be just as much of an enthusiast.
