Default 2018 911 Targa 4 GTS

My legal partner just joined the forum and listed his car for sale. He doesn’t have many posts, if any, since he’s new, but he’s been frequenting the site for several years and I’ve been a member for years and can vouch for him and the car. It’s aboslutely sick. I’m a coupe guy and never wanted a Targa, but this car changed it for me. Just wanted to share the ad and ask what people think of the car. Makes my track car (agate gray below) look like a slouch.

It sounds like you should sell your car and buy his.

Great minds think alike (though fools seldom differ).

You are right. All kidding aside, I thought of it. I actually bought my first porsche from him because he spares no expense on maintenance, repairs, etc.: a 1987 Porsche 911. That ‘87 911 I bought from him with 100,000 miles looked and drove and was in better condition than others I had considered buying with 60,000 miles. I drove this GTS once just to reset the TPMS after adjusting the tire pressures to comfort pressures for him. The car is fantastic and perfect for me. Color, options, everything. The only reason I decided against it is because I’ve developed the track bug. I’m tracking at least once a month and my car is better suited, especially after what I’ve done to it. See signature below for details on my car. I also recently made an offer on a vacant parcel of land so buying a 4th car is not the right thing right now.

Agreed. Wide body with the different rear glass and targa bar is a certain cross between modern and vintage-looking. My partner has good taste. All of his 911s have been “special” or unique in one way or another. He had a Seal Gray 996.2 that just seemed to stand out compared to others. Nothing crazy about the car, but it had sport seats, OEM aerokit side skirts, 18” lightweight wheels painted in exterior color, carbon fiber all over the interior, center console painted in exterior color, etc. That car had about 95,000 miles when he sold and looked practically new other than one or 2 normal creases on the driver seat. Another car I would have considered buying except that I already owned and drove a 996 for about 60,000 miles and moved on to a 997.2 at the time.

He forgot to include the buildsheet in his ad so I just added it for him. Check it out:

They don’t, this is not priced to sell.

Nope. Sounds like he really wants to keep his car.

Is he trying to make money on this sale? GTS Targas are popular but that price seems high..

As a Targa owner that would love to see the values stay high, even though I have zero plans of selling regardless of the price, I will agree that this car is overpriced. Here are some manual Targas for sale now. In particular, check out the Caulk car in San Diego, which has been there for months and was recently discounted $10k:

there are two other chalks (with different options and interior color) with double the mileage and the asking price for those is $10k more. They were listed on autotrader.

They can list their car for whatever price they want. Until someone buys it, the asking price is irrelevant.
