Default Adding Garage Lighting

Im wanting to make my garage a lot brighter so I can do some detailing inside with the garage door closed, esp once winter arrives. Currently I only have two 17 watt led bulbs - not nearly enough light to be able to see small details on the car when cleaning. My garage is a two car, approx 20 x 20 and about 9 feet tall.

Wondering if anyone else has added lighting and what kinds of lights and how many do you recommend for being able to detail inside? Tks

So, I didn't go crazy high end or anything on this, but I ordered
these LED lights from Amazon these LED lights from Amazon
and used 2 of them in our inside utility/laundry room and am going to use the other 2 in my single car garage (where my toys go). May buy more for the double garage too, but I don't tend to work there very often. They were very cost effective and put out a tremendous amount of light. It looks like they are currently out of stock, but if you click on the sellers link, there are other versions that may work as well.

Looks like 4 of these might do the trick. And linkable so no additional fixtures have to be put in? That could save a lot of effort. Tks

Amazon Amazon

I am looking to do the same thing. Here is what I found. Just swap out with the ones you have. They are expensive however all of the reviews are stellar.

I highly recommend these LED lights, amazingly bright and powerful and better than anything you'll find at HD or Lowes. He has a YouTube video reviewing the lights and walking through installation.

The did come with a short link kit, but for a garage you would need a longer one, but yes, it definitely made it easy to do from one fixture.

Man, that thing is ugly. Nice 991.1 base with black sport techno (though I'm biased) in the amazon ad.

I installed these on the wall and for the money they are of amazingly high quality. they are super bright and allow you to swing them out if you want to focus on a particular area. the arm is long enough to swing out over the top of the car to the roof.

note: I dont do detailing so this halogen light may not be good for that purpose compared to LED?

I've been considering putting three of these in my garage:

My garage / shop is about the same size as yours with an 11 ft ceiling. I’m running 6 8ft high-bay luminaires each with a set of 4 4ft 32W T8 bulbs. Four of the luminaires are on their own dedicated 20 amp circuit.

I consider this to be acceptable.

You could probably get away with a slightly less powerful LED equivalent, due to your lower ceiling, but not by much.

One of their images is of a 991 in a garage. Search is over.

Similar to dkmesa's suggestion, I put in four of these HomeDepot lights several months ago ($55 each). https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commerci...4141/206028859

They are 4000 lumens each and make things reasonably bright and are fairly attractive. I still need to use a portable LED to eliminate shadows when working under or inside the car/truck though. They are about as bright as I'd want for normal day-to-day use... I have them rigged to a motion detector switch since the opener's lights were way too weak.

The ones Dennis are recommending look amazing, but at 13,000 lumens (and $400 each!) I think they'd be too bright for daily use for me. They'd probably be nice when doing detail work though.
