It's got to be a US thing if you can't set ac to be off on new 911's when you crank up. Otherwise the button would be press and light up to be off, rather than press to be on. On my 17 model you just set to key (not 1 or2) with ac on or off, your choice.. 19 models may be different but I doubt it in UK. We rarely need it on. I personally hate the dry aeroplane air and wouldn't buy a car that gave it to me in default.
