Memory Settings Conundrum

^^+1. If fan and A/C are left off then moisture (then smell) can/will build up. A/C takes moisture out of the air be it warm or cold. If you blow damp air on cold windows you get frost........

I have a 2019 GTS and have been able to save the settings with AC off.
At first it didn't didn't seem to work, but I was trying to save the settings with the car running. If I turn the car off and turn on the ACC power, then turn off the AC and then hit the Set button and the Key button it appears to have saved the setting.
Five entry, start, engine off, exit and lock cycles in the last 45 minutes and the car always starts with AC off.

I believe the car has a short memory fo 15 minutes which you kept reactivating in that 45 min.

Well, I tried the second key with no programming, no luck, the A/C and fan come on.
HalfMoon's suggestions works for a short time but after while, the A/C setting is back to "on". This is what Psorcery was referring to and is what I've experienced as well.
I wish someone from Porsche read our thread, it's not an isolated issue. I'm sure that it could be programmed to be switched off and set to memory, but would they be willing to make the effort (I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap to roll-out, but maybe it could be incorporated through a scheduled update).
At least they didn't charge for this optional feature.

FYI it is the same with bmws the ac is always on at start up even if I turn it off before shutting down the car.
I believe there is a way to code it off, bmws have a lot of flexibility with custom coding options. I’ve learned to live with it, guess it’ll be the same when my 911 comes.

I also posted recently the antiquated heater controls in my 14 that blows cold air before the heater core warms up...which is ridiculous. The ECM knows the temp of the coolant so it would be very easy to program the blower motor to wait for maybe 80 degrees of coolant temp based on outside air temp? My wife's old 2000 Lexus did this. Are kids, that actually own cars in cold Germany, programming these cars or is it being outsourced to Ecuador??

Here's the reply from Porsche NA regarding an inquiry I sent them. The reply was within 24 hrs, impressive.
Thank you for emailing Porsche Cars North America regarding your new 2019 911 Carrera 4S, congratulations on your recent purchase!
The A/C system will not allow you to store "off" as a setting, as it assists with the ventilation of the cabin and was designed to help prevent the windows from fogging. While I understand that this may not be the answer you were seeking, I want to assure you that your feedback is valued. The comments from our owners are of the utmost importance to us and we appreciate the time you took to share your experience with us.
Mr. *****, thank you for providing us the opportunity to respond. Wish you many happy and safe miles!
Kind Regards,

We can now get on with our lives, the answer has been officially made.
How they concluded that we must be forcefully saved from fogged windows must be due to assessments (liability, health?) by Porsche.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Thanks!
I confirmed this afternoon that after sitting 16+ hours it rest to on for me.
Just need to remember to shut it off the last few miles before parking to dry out any moisture from the vents and ducts before parking to avoid odors.

you know one thing might be that you have air circulation button activated. when I press air circulation, the AC comes on with it, so i have to manually turn the AC off if I want just air circulation sans-AC. if you have air circulation as part of your memory, it might be that it is defaulting the AC to come on. just a thought

yes re-circulation, thanks. and yes i understand the concept but not all cars have AC on as default when one turns it on. I sometimes press re-circulation when i'm going through tunnels or the air is bad outside and I do not wish for AC to be on.

I'm going to hook up the battery charger to the car and I'm going to sit in it and go through every single function, reset the system and re-program my keys, for however long it takes.
It seems to me that some of the memory functions come and go, such as the mirror dip on reverse and steering wheel rise when in comfort entry. Just when I think everything is set, something changes.
It's probably me not complying with the procedure required but I will persevere!
