My car came with PSP and I had my local dealer take out the programming at a cost of 1hr of labor. I didn't mind it when I bought the car but now that it's no longer installed I like the feel of the stock steering so much better.

I have had it in my last three 991 and it was fine. Never noticed an issue at all. It dirt cheap and seems to add to your effort of steering in a tight parking lot.
Never driven one without it.

I went from a 718 Cayman with PSP to a Carrera T without. If I were to order a car, I would save the money. I haven’t noticed a big difference while parking.

Thank you all for your replies and experiences! I do not have issues with slow speed parking so that's not my motivation. I do not recall driving one at speed so i was just wondering how it feels... my 06 997 feels to me more tight and more responsive at high speeds than my 991.1 so I was thinking perhaps the PSP would replicate it. I'll arrange a drive with one that has the PSP and determine if it is for me.

PSP only affects low speed turning...the car handles the same with or without it at speed.

Thats what I wanted PSP on my first Porsche. I had memories of my dads old RX-7 which you had to use a lot of force in parking situations. My 911 without PSP is nothing like that. Very easy to maneuver while parking.

Here is was they are describing:
"Standard Power steering Plus is a speed sensitive power steering system. At high speeds, the steering firms up and responds with greater precision, while steering comfort remains outstanding. At low speeds, the steering ratio adjusts for easy maneuvering and parking."

I'm negotiating on a CPO 718 that has PSP and I've asked the dealer to disable it. They claim they can't, and in fact think I'm asking to unplug the electric steering completely. (!) Would anyone have any pointers to technical docs that describe how to disable this "feature"?

I’ve had it removed on two 911s. Bring car to dealer. Ask them to remove PSP. I think they charged me 1 hr labor to remove. As others have pointed out, it’s just software.

Power steering plus is for people with weak arms and those who are disabled. I'm 6'1" 165 lbs and 75 years old and not only don't I need it, but I don't want it.
But If you are going to have rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders over the next year or so, it might be handy to have...

I have it. Would love to drive one without to compare, but, I have zero complaints about steering feel. Perhaps ignorance is bliss.

I didn’t notice any difference over 40 and honestly didn’t notice very much at parking lot speeds. Standard steering is very high boost without PSP. Have no idea why anyone wants this option. It seems to be one of the rare options that I’ve heard of way more people paying to remove vs number of people adding later...which is also easily done.
