Radar detectors: current state?

Just FYI... That plastic box visible in the right side opening is K40's version of a laser jammer (also not so highly regarded)... The actual radar-detector head is usually mounted under the bumper cover and not visible unless you pull the bumper. Sometimes front and rear.

R7 & GPS Lockout
I’m not too pleased with my lack of dexterity of finding a button on the side of the unit (the right one) and then double pressing it while in traffic in order to precisely mark a GPS location – and not too late such that the next time I drive by, I don’t get the alarm before the GPS locator stored mutes the alarm – and then doing this three times.
What am I getting wrong?
PS: At first I was skeptical to the GPS lockout helping to quiet the detector figuring the police could be lurking by. However, since it not only IDs a signal but its precise frequency, I’m more confident that another signal would be detected since it would have to be a different frequency.

Apparently most of the existing laser jammers are not effective against current guns. I think ALP is the only one that still is. Supposedly there is something new coming to the market this year. Research before you buy.
if just buying a radar laser detector, the usual suspects are still good, the top of the line escort and uniden and the valentine. These won’t help with laser unless it picks up laser targeted at the car in front of you. There is a new one coming out this year called Theia or something like that that should be interesting.
