Depreciation between 2 cars
What car do you think will have more depreciation in the next 2/3 years:
2018 911 991.2 GTS
or
2015 911 991.1 Turbo S
I think the GTS, the Turbo maybe got the worst one on the first years.

I'm no expert, but since the Turbo S is a bit older, it has likely already taken more of its initial hit in value. So, it's probably a safer buy, in terms of depreciation.
The GTS is a 2018, so its falloff is probably just now being realized.

If you have nothing good to say........
With that said, I'm also in the buy what you like, what you want camp. However whenever you are comparing substitute goods, the economics can be a contributor to what you enjoy more. These are two closely related goods, just like all 9,000 variants of the 911.
I'd go Turbo in this case if you really like both cars and you want to maximize your dollar.

I imagine you are trying to hypothetically decide between the two beautiful vehicles.
I actually contemplated the very same scenario. I do not track my cars and my "extra" car gets driven less tha 2k miles per year (work too many hours).
After evaluating all the cars within my $150k maximum budget, it came down to the following: Acura nsx- too many issues, bad reported dealer support, unknown cost of hybrid maintenance going forward; Maclaren mc12 - too expensive once out of warranty and can only be serviced at Maclaren; Ferrari f430 - too raw for my needs, generally no warranty; Audi R8 - design somewhat dated at this time, and there are better more updated alternatives.
At the end of the day, it came down to either the 991.1 Turbo S or 991.2 GTS Targa.
The 991.2 GTS Targa -I like the look of the targa better (my first pcar was a 964 targa); I love the targa roof option; the 991.2 upgrades are substantial, I am a fan of the Alcantara, and the factory warranty is longer. Being newer, however, obviously more depreciation to absorbed by me.
The 991.1 Turbo S - car is faster, love the side scoops and rear spoiler, pccb's standard, more depreciation absorbed by previous owner(s). Definitely seems like the "better deal" as a percentage off original sticker price.
As far as depreciation goes, the deprecation hit declines over time as these cars always eventually find a floor. Keeping in mind that I plan on keeping the car at least 5 years (warranty expiration), I decided on the GTS Targa. I just think it is a more unique and beautiful car. Personal decision, can't go wrong with either.

depreciation matters less the longer you own it. so if you plan on a short term ownership you should get the turbo.
I find that if I get the car I liked and loved the first time, I tend to be happier throughout the ownership (barring any warranty or reliability problems) and I keep the car longer, therefore having to pay less in the long term switching out vehicles (CA taxes, registration, etc).
Cars keep getting faster and "better" so there is no end. I'd go for the long game.

If you are interested in a manual transmission, or rear wheel drive, then you have your answer. Would be far more important than depreciation to me.

i think turbo is all pdk so i guess get a manual if you want to minimize depreciation
