I am 100% certain there is a problem either with the tune or PDK tune or Launching with traction control ON.
I just watched about 8 videos of 991.2 race launches and my car doesn't shift anything like the cars in the video do.
On one hand I am happy because now I know there is a problem with the shift points, but on the other hand not happy because I have an issue.

I will video the gauges tomorrow morning as I do more tests and show you all what is going on.

Could be the TCU kicking in and limiting because of the torque.
Traction control def bogged the launch, probably interfered during pulls too.

Could also be tune, but I'd address those items first.

Is there anyone here with an AWD GTS that has used launch Control? I have read on many reviews to DISABLE traction Control. Some people say it doesnt matter but, I am wondering if its possible that on AWD vehicles that the computer senses some sort of spinning or Max Torque and retards the shift points or something?

Just speaking out loud and trying to see if anyone else has experienced this. After tomorrow's test I guess I will know the answer.. should Traction Control be disabled on AWD 911's for Race Launch..

Stay Tuned..

At the drag strip my C4 GTS put down 11.3x @ 122.xx MPH over and over again, I was blown away at how consistent it was. I used launch control with traction on and it shifted at redline with clinical precision, no bouncing off the rev limiter and minimal tire spin.

If that is the case then it has to do with the Cobb tune/tweak made to the PDK. I will know more in the morning. Maybe it was actually tuned to be used with Traction control off..? We'll see

Mine traps 10 second MPH. 11.02 @ 128.

PTS inspired me to go to the track today. I'm running worse times on stage 2 than stage 1 because of traction.

today I pulled 11.2, 11.4, 12.0, 12.4. My trap speed went down to 127. SAD!

Traction was worse and worse each pull. My cup 2s had more stones glued to them than you can see rubber.

Spinning 2nd now too (cold weather culprit).

I'm definitely pro tuning my GTS to have stock boost levels in first gear. Maybe up 1-2psi TOPS.

1/4mile

127MPH is around 500HP at the crank, 128MPH is around 520HP at the crank.

A stock GTS is ~ 124-125MPH (450PS) and the Turbos S is o 132-133MPH (580PS)

This is the reason I wont go down tuning path again. So much work and money to question minimal gains in results and for something else such as shifting points of the unbelievable PDK to get screwed up. My experience was with a different car, not a 911. Either way, sorry your results are not up to par for mods. I hope it is not a long journey to get it right again.

ok hater have fun with investment car NPC. Wiper removal bad!!!

ive run 128.2 quarter, 157 in the half, and 7.52 60-130. Full weight car. Protomotive Tune!! Call Todd Knighton.
7speed manual.
PTS thanks so much for posting this and know you’re gonna love the draggy. I really doubt there are accelerometers in the dragy and believe it just reads satellites. I put my metal plate on window in corner by center top of windshield and it holds fine. I turn my traction off and I ALWAYS make sure I have a downword slope. A drop of 11’ is likely too much. Brake boost at 40mph and then gun it to 135. Just in that last lazy #%$ shift you have a tenth or two haha. Have fun! I’ll be going out first thing in the morning with 41* temps and a few more degrees of timing. Please post to leaderboard on dragy.

I would love to see that 1/4mile time slip.

I am not sure what NPC means or what wipers have to do with tuning. I am just saying this is why I wont tune again. I had a Cadillac ATS-V with catless exhaust, air intake, fuel cam and tune putting down 530whp. Loved that car and the extra power was great. Had to make logs all the time, send files to tuner and eventually learn how to tweak tunes myself. There was always some issue that needed resolved or some part that needed to be added like the fuel cam which was not planned or upgrading cooling. Just too much to deal with and wouldnt deal with it again. Spent countless hours stressing over it and spending money on it. Maybe my experience was in minority, but not worth messing with a great car to me again. My Targa GTS will be seeing track days this year, but will not be seeing a tuner. As for investment car, I did not buy it as an investment but as a car that had everything I needed and wanted and didnt need to be messed with. If others want to tune their car, I dont care. I just wish before I got into it a couple years ago, someone would have warned me about possible unintended consequences that I dealt with. I am now in the camp of if I want more power I will upgrade to a faster car.
