Yes. From what I understand the crest is riveted on and it would require prying it off and using a dremel to grind off the posts, or take the airbag a part and see if there was a way to get it off easier. Jim put 3M tape on the back but I removed it and put 3M tape on just the airbag crest so it would sit better. I remember reading that someone else used some kind of adhesive but using thin 3M tape allows it to be removed easier, if so desired at some point in the future. Mine is bigger that the one that Grasox has on his airbag (see above) and that is the one I am sending Jim to refinish to replace the one I have on it now, which will sit more flush on the stock crest as you can see.

is the one in the pic above yours? It appears to sit flush. I don’t want to do it if it doesn’t fit flush and I don’t feel like going through the removal process. May not be in the cards.

That would look sweet but unless I had it everywhere else as well (e.g. seats, dash, etc.) it would not seem right.

Speaking of crests, here is an illustration of how the crest evolved. Note some very minute differences from one to the other; I am going to use the one on the far left for my steering wheel (1 5/8" high) to replace the one I have now:

Do you have an airbag that could send it into your face? Maybe they don't do that when deployed? Just would prefer soft leather or plastic bag vs other possibilities.

As I think I already said to someone else here, I like the way it looks much better than to worry about something that is to likely never happen, and I am pretty sure when the airbag deploys the cover opens to one side of the other (my wife/passenger feels the same way).

I found this pic of an older one but you can see the crest remains on the airbag, and when attached with 3M tape I am positive it will stay.

There was a post on Reddit maybe 2 years ago, maybe more, about a guy on his bike on the wrong side of the road. Rider was an idiot. A known idiot. Went head on into a Cayman. No one died and the airbags deployed in the Cayman. Driver did take the crest into the forearm.

So I wouldn't sweat it either Bob. The odds are low the airbags will ever deploy. Lower still that, if they do, it would cause an issue.

No worries here and again, I like it so much that being maimed is not a concern. Jim is refinishing the 356 hood handle crest I sent him so it should look much better when I get it back, like the one Grasox has on his steering wheel.

I stumbled across this site that has some custom crests but I do not know how the quality is compared to Carrera East: https://www.aasesales.com/collection...-badges-crests

I am waiting on a new steering wheel crest that he is working on for me now and when he tells me it is done I will put in a word for you...PM me your email address. But keep in mind that this is a part-time job for him and he has been very busy travelling with his "day" job. And his daughter works with him on them and she has been busy. It took him 5 months to get me what I needed after I finally got in touch with him, which took about the same amount of time since he does do work based on the order requests are received.

By the way, he does have a few on ebay that you can find by searching for "refinished crest", and his new User ID is interestedparty. Here is one he has there now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-POR...cAAOSwWxNYttRP

He has a few on ebay that would look good on both of your cars...
