I hope you’re not telling me to stop blaming Cobb. I haven’t spoken a single bad word about them. I know it isn’t the tune, it has to be a leak, more boost= more potential for issues/leaks. it will be found, either by me or by AMS.

Hey guys
the problem has been found. It was the cats, I replaced them with Soul bypass pipes and the car runs exactly as it should. I’m under the assumption that one of the cats was causing a major exhaust restriction. So happy it was something easy!
btw, how can you tell if a cat is clogged/melted, etc? Nothing looks too terrible on either of them

Ryan: Im glad you updated this because I had gotten a couple of members referencing your thread concerned about the Cobb Tune. I said from the jump it wasn't the tune causing the problem and you agreed so I'm not pointing the finger at you. As far as the cats go, the factory cats are without doubt the weakest link in the system and changing them to any other cat would have solved the problem. I dont think you "needed" a cat bypass pipe, but the bypass will certain flow better than any cat so, congrats on the power and finding the solution.
Footnote: I wonder if the original ECU was faulty at all. I bet it was just the simplest way to try and remedy the problem. The original ECU would have probably worked just fine with bypass pipes as well.

also, just my thoughts, for anyone considering cat bypass pipes, they’re nice but spend the extra and get sport cats.

yes, stock cats and 27k miles on the car. Tune worked great for the initial 400 miles but must have just plugged up or something. I plan to take a look inside the stock cats today

Hmmm..... what kind of fuel do you use? Two ways I can think of to kill cats: contaminated fuel(lead), or too much heat. If you were just doing street driving, I would find it hard to believe it was heat. A quick pull here and there shouldn't really got too toasty. Sustained full throttle on a road course could kill a cat quickly if the EGTs are too high.
