Just out rompin on a warmer day, with the summas (said in Matt Damon), pebbles and rocks banging away all over the unprotected and never washed body, having not driven the car for a couple weeks, skidding about. Thinking was the balance of care-free to classic 911 experiences ever this good?

Ditto, I have been driving it often this winter, mainly mountain roads on summer tires, It handles the rocks and bad road conditions well. This is my first 911 and the premise of a no-frills experience is what brought me in, then drove one at LAPEC and the rest is history.... The car has not disappointed!

Did the Master the Manual at LAPEC last January in a T. I was sold. Bought mine in April 2019. Mine is still bundled up in the garage on a charger. Hoping for an early spring!
I think if the DME checks out with little over-revs, then things should be good to go.
I got the the DME for one of the PSDS manual GTS pulled. I would imagine most look like this. I think the manual cars would be a hard pass. PDK cars are a maybe for the right price.

WOW, do not buy the car that has these over-revs!!! First of all, Range 1 over-revs are caused by hitting the rev limiter. Anything in the 4 (revs above 7,900 but below 8,400) through 7 (over 9,000 revs) Ranges are major and may be catastrophic. Porsche will not CPO a car with Range 4 or higher.

That is pretty crazy! The car actually sold - I wonder if someone saw it on this thread and jumped at it.
The DME I posted was not from the car posted above.
It’s just an example of how bad demos can be. This car was a GTS that was used at the PSDS and currently listed for sale.
I'm not so sure guys...165 ignitions at 8400 rpm - assuming one ignition per cylinder per revolution is only 0.003 seconds - I think this is in the domain of likely an error in recording. It's just too fast to have been corrected in that span of time. If you money shift, you are spending *seconds* over speeding the engine.
Anyone have more insight into how these ignition ranges are recorded?
You could be right, 360 ignitions per second. Less than a second in range 6. You'd have to know when it occurred and how long it's run since to get a sense of health I guess. Still isn't range 6 8900 RPM?
Regardless- I would not touch a car with range 4,5,6 - especially when you can find good examples without over revs in range 1.
even if the car is just fine, you’ll have a hell
of a time of you ever want to sell - dealer and educated private buyers will beat you up over the dme
This past Saturday at The Barn we had a small T-party, and some good company. Dr. John with his black manual, and my Racing Yellow T. 2600 miles logged since late November, this car is so good !
Went out for a romp in the T and my son with various Porsche enthusiasts. I was behind a 997.2 Turbo PDK. Even at his full throttle I had no problem keeping up which surprised me.
