I think you are going to generate a lot of business for DB Carbon. I agree that it really improvs the look of the otherwise plain door card.

The panels are just molded one piece vinyl (or some other similar material) and you can't realistically remove that trim insert and wrap it or replace it, because there is no trim insert.
The DB Carbon fit is perfect as they make them from a mold of a door panel. They're held on with high quality double sided tape. I think they look perfect and they really add that missing bit of detail from the interior. They even wrap the end of the door panel for a completely OEM look.
Arrived in LA from Miami late last night (Friday), one day later than I was told. Too bad I won’t be able to take it for its’ inaugural SoCal drive until Tuesday since I’ll be away for work. Appears to have arrived unscathed though a bit dirty with a little oil that dripped on the hood. Glad I have PPF. Would have been nice if they put some cover to protect the car. Also, another little nit-pick, the drivers should wear gloves to protect the car from their hands. Naturally, they get very dirty with everything they touch loading and unloading .
Some photos of the DB Carbon door sphere trim in Carbon Fiber as installed.
I am totally pleased with how the new CF pieces look on the vinyl door panels.

As you requested, here are a few pictures of the DB Carbon door spheres in Carbon Fiber that I attached to the vinyl door panel of my new Cayman, as well as a before install photo.
These trim pieces fit perfectly and they match the Factory Carbon Fiber trim that is on the dash. They really make the standard door look significantly more attractive and appealing.

Today was like a dream come true. My car arrived in LA last Friday night and today I got out for my first “California “ drive. Being from South Florida , the driving and scenery were incredible. I headed North to Ojai, took 33 thru the Los Padres National Forest, to 166 West, then too 101 and 154 thru Los Olivos. Then back on the 101 to Los Virgenes Road, Malibu Canyon Road to the PCH, and back to Playa Del Rey. Nearly 400 miles and a lot of bugs killed! I look forward to my next adventure! I think my Porsche and I have found the roads we’ve always been wanting to drive.

Looks like a great trip. Every weekend or so I do 33 to Lockwood Valley Rd, turn around, then down to Malibu (Piyuma, Encinal, Latigo, etc...) and then back up to SB via PCH. Still lots of roads for you to explore in your T, we certainly are spoiled with easy access to great roads here in CA .

Funny you mentioned Lockwood Valley Road. I was originally planning to turn right at that road and take it to Cuddy Valley Road. I must have passed by the turn since I didn’t see it. In hindsight maybe better next time, since I did a lot of driving without that detour. You are right, so many nice places waiting to be discovered. I am glad that I didn’t run over any large rocks that fall onto the road. Also, I saw a bunch of new Euro looking VWs (not sure what models)with Michigan plates throughout Los Padres and later heading in the opposite direction on 154 to Los Olivos.
Looks awesome Dave. I had to do the piano black to match the Carrera T interior. So...essentially pay DB for a carbon piece and then pay more to have it painted black!! I won't get mine for approx another month, so waiting patiently.
First, I wasn't too happy with the chromed 911T badge I had installed on the engine grille. Since I have no other chrome pieces, it looked out of place.
For that reason, I decided to paint it with a paint kit from ScratchWizard. The color match is perfect for GT Silver.
And since I was going into "paint mode", I decided to also paint the sides of my key to match my car.
I think it now looks like it came like that from the factory.
Checking the color match and the contrast against Agate Gray mirrors:
Trim installed and matching key:
And I also got to install the 70th anniversary plaque I bought from Dave @wdr911 (Thanks Dave!!!).
The plaque is very nicely made, and makes perfect sense in my T, because it is a 2018, and also because of the message...
