Did you guys swap cars? Curious how they performed against one another. I really like the C7 Grand Sport. C8 is cool but a bit busy for my taste. Sounds like a great road trip.👍
I’ve driven his, and him mine, but not on this trip. They’re fairly equal with the scale tipping to the 911 but not by much (as far as outright speed). I think the 911 has better manners and handling is definitely better (to me) in the 911.
Our gas mileage was very comparable, we were quite surprised.

I’ve driven a C7 before in the canyons, so not way beyond limit of traction or anything, but some very spirited driving where I wasn’t afraid of getting a ticket (just keeping myself on the road and safe). From a driving dynamic standpoint, the front end of the 911 I can feel better when steering in and out of a turn, so I have more awareness and higher confidence in what is happening at any moment. Also, the rear of the 911 puts power down more effectively, so again, coming out of a turn I have more confidence to accelerate quickly without theatrics. Those two points lead me to believe I would likely have better lap times in a 911 just because it’s more confidence inspiring. I would still consider a C5 Z06 as a track toy though, just coz they’re cheap and running costs are orders of magnitude less compared with a P car, and sometimes corner exit theatrics are fun even if not fastest
Adding this to the garage tomorrow or Friday after 16 years of 993 ownership (with an 83 SC and 02 996.2 thrown in for good measure during that time). Very basic spec 2019 model (Bose is about it), PDK (quiet at the back please!0, and standard seats. I actually have a 992 GTS on order (18 months quoted delivery?!?!) and this is my "interim" car. After a brief test drive I fell in love with the car. At its core, it still feels VERY 911 like but with all modern conveniences I like in a car I plan on USING. Honestly, I think the very basic setup helps GREATLY with the connection to a car 22 years its senior.
Nice car. Nothing like a road trip to bring a "new" car home! Done it many times- brought my new to me T home to Scottsdale from San Jose a month or so ago. Flew over in the early AM and was home by midnight! Good way to "bond" with a new vehicle...
@rubioalejo Do you remember what color you went with on the Forgelines? There was at least one attempt in this thread that got it wrong, but yours looks like a really close match.

Gunmetal (gloss)
This color is practically identical to the Agate Gray that came on the mirrors and in the rear grille. Perfect match to the eye, It even seems to me that it is more similar than the Titanium gray of the OEM wheels!

Great wheels, but I don’t think that the Titanium Grey was ever meant to match the Agate Grey. I’m sure that it was a design choice by Porsche to paint the T wheels in a different colour to the other grey highlights on the car. Otherwise, they would have just painted the wheels in Agate Grey too.

Satin silver ,Gloss silver, Satin black, Gloss black ,Titanium grey, SatinPlatinum ,Satin Neodyme, Satin dark grey, etc, etc are powder colors used only on wheels. Since Agate Metallic Grey is a wet paint code only intended for the body's car, is not used on any OEM wheel. Titanium grey is regular powder coated paint code that is not specifically intended or designed for the T or any other specific model, however Porsche choose this option for the T in order to match a closely possible to the distinctive trim's color Agate Grey on model T.
All of these notes may be interesting to answer Jeahbladejeah's original question!
