Default Stubborn Road Stains

I have some very small but very stubborn plant or insect origin stains on my rear number that I cannot get off for the life of me. Have tried spray poiish, wd40, sap and tar remover, paint thinner, and Goo Gone. Goo Gone gets them smaller but not completely gone. Hesitant to use rubbing compound but don’t know what to do next. Any ideas welcome. How debris hits the rear number is beyond me except for the considerable backdraft that must occur at high speed.

My experience with persistent plant or insect stains like you describe usually ends up being because it has already etched the clear coat. It's easy to see under any magnification, if you can't feel the etching with your fingernails.

Wash the car, then clay it. Next start with a DA polisher and a polishing compound on a very light pad (such as a white). If that does not do it move to a very light cutting compound with a white pad. That will probably take care of it. Go over it with a polishing compound. Now wash and use a paint sealant.

You can always move to an orange pad or heavier cut compound if necessary. But I bet the polishing compound or super light cutting compound takes care of it.

Get a bottle of Oil-Flo Safety Solvent. Put a small amount on a rag and most of these things will literally just wipe right off. It's available on Amazon. It safely cleans everything even when everything else fails me. I've used it for years and will never be without it.

What color is your car?

I think I get what you are talking about. My car is white. I think it's carbon soot. But I could be wrong. Tiny black spots. Comes off with washing or a dab of RejeX Wax.

My favorite spot stain/light scratch repair approach is through a product called Meguiar's M105. It can be applied by hand or machine, and does a nice job in taking out blemishes without causing further damage. I apply it by hand, usually.

Try Mothers R3. It is designed for racing rubber, but gets seems to get pretty much every contaminant off of paint. Spray it on; let it sit for a minute; wipe it off.

Thanks for the tips. I have some R3 and Oil-Flo on order and will report back on results.
