I agree that the 991.2 is maxed out on poke from the factory, but you didn't take into account the narrower 991.1 wheels when comparing the different offsets.
The typical rear wheel from Tire Rack and other vendors is 20 x 11 ET 65. The stock 991.2 rear wheel is 20 x 11.5 ET 76. Because they are 12.7 mm narrower than the stock wheels they move out only 1.7 mm.
^ Good point, but wheels in question are same 20x11.5 size as stock 991.2 rears and listed as same ET62 offset for 991.1 and 991.2 on TireRack's website—so the rears moved out 14mm on my car, a total no go with the Michelins. I have pics, but the look was a bit Big Daddy Don Garlits for a 911. A bit better with the Pirellis, but still too much poke.

I posted this on my instagram (@pure745) and thought it looked really cool. This is on H&R springs.. definitely a flattering pictures, in person and from some angles there is a lot more fender gap.
