Just to be clear, uncommon doesn't equal scarcity, and uncommonness doesn't mean something is necessarily more valuable.
A 911 C4 or Targa 4 is uncommon because few people desired them and few people ordered them, not due to any limitation in supply from Porsche or inability to meet demand.
A 911 R is scarce because many people wanted them, but Porsche made very few of them...
Now if were talking about a 30-year old 911, something that started out uncommon because few chose it (eg: a 911 with the included sunroof deleted) can have a resurgence in interest and they can become more desirable, but that really doesn't apply to 991 generation cars... If you have a model, color, or option combination that is pretty uncommon, it's often just because few wanted (and likely few currently want) that particular model/color/option combo and it will have no value bump do to the uniqueness...
So perhaps in 30 years, folks will be gaga over a 991.1 Targa 4 non-S, non-GTS and pay big bucks for one of the few out there, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yes, I would not expect C4 to be worth more. I have a 993 C4 cab and even though there are not that many, it’s not worth more than a C2 cab, and is worth less than a C2 coupe.
Still, a C4 or C4 cab is a great daily. My dealer has a used 991.2 C4 cab with 7MT and I keep thinking it would be a great all year including snow car.

On a somewhat-related note -- moments after making my last post, I read on the GT3 forum that a 911R just hammered in Scottsdale at $250K (with 12% juice: $280K). Amazing how much the prices have come down in the last year.

Glad you like the stats! I'll pull 2017 numbers today and post them up.
I previously owned this gorgeous dark metallic blue 2017 C4...miss the color and winter handling but love my T.

You can't go wrong with a T. And with the 992 now here, this is all the more evident.

Carrera 4 = 144
Carrera 4S = 1,766
Carrera 4 GTS = 254
That's pretty interesting!
Also noteworthy is how many GT3s and GT3 RS's have landed here so far. PAG really cranked those out this time around, which I think is a good thing!
Carrera T production stayed pretty low. I own both a GT3 and a T and if you'd told me at the outset that the GT3 would be the far more common car, I'd have laughed my head off.
