True, but a vehicle that is unreliable and costs a ridiculous amount to keep on the road wears thin after a while. I was looking at a Ferrari prior to the GTS. Nice and exotic...for a while.

Although my GTS does not have a PDK, this was a fun read though.

I also have to wonder why Porsche does not offer extended warranties as the third party companies do. Makes you wonder.

They do, but it has to be purchased before the factory warranty runs out, not a CPO warranty.

I though one can pay a Porsche dealer to CPO your car before the factory warranty runs out?

Not easily, they have to make it look like they bought it from you and you bought it back. Not all dealers will do that, even for a fee. Mine wouldn't.

I also agree with that 👍

My 2015 911 Carrera 4 GTS that I bought just over 4 months ago came with 11 months factory warranty plus another 2 years CPO warranty added to it.

I can't remember the details, but I had an option to purchase additional Porsche warranty, either at the time of sale or within a month...something like that. With only 101 miles on the odometer and no over-revs in all 6 ranges, I was buying a new car.

Default NEVER AGAIN

See my post from a while back. Just out of warranty and $26k later PCNA threw this 30+ year Porsche owner under the bus. I have now been vaccinated against the Porsche Pox and will never suffer from that disease again. Liberating.

Thanks for that. I read it all.

Sad to see that Porsche is in the same league as so many of the manufacturers. I won't say Japanese manufacturers are any better, its just that I've never had any issues with them since I first owned them in 1983 as my daily drivers. And I've owned some ultra long term...15+ years.

Sorry to hear about your experience - just to be clear, in the post you reference you say “PCNA stood firm at covering 65%” but here you mention “$26k later PCNA threw this 30+ year Porsche owner under the bus”. Does that mean even AFTER they covered 65% of the cost you still shelled out $26k?!? How could that be?!?

Any idea the cost of just this repair?

I'm also looking for a 991.1 model. Has anyone seen this issue affect 2012 models?

$25k for a transmission is beyond absurd. There's a reason Porsche is the most profitable car company in the world, case in point.
My mom had a Lexus that she had to get out of solely due to reliability worry out of warranty. Their 3.5L V6 is well known to have inherent flaws that cause oil leaks and other such problems after some time. Her issue, for fixing what seemed like it should be a rather small issue (turns out it required a "big picture fix") was thousands, and even though forums are flooded with people having the same issue due to a clear design flaw, Lexus refused to cover it. They offered I think $500 toward fixing a multi thousand dollar issue. The only reason she bought a Lexus is because of reliability (she always loved German cars, she said the Lexus made her "feel old and lame"). She went back to a German car after.

I think he meant the total cost was 26, out of pocket was 11,700...which is about the same cost as bringing it to an Indy and getting it swapped with a used unit. Not bad deal.

So is this a 991.1 or earlier only issue or does it include the 991.2 - ?

Bulletin says, "model 2013-2014 911 carrera, 911 carrera s, 911 carrera 4, 911 carrera 4s."
