Hard driving PDK smell after stopping
After revving to high RPM's and using the PDK in manual mode there is a strange smell that is coming from the rear of the car. I am not sure it is the trans or possibly the serpentine belt. Car has 39k miles on it.

Does it smell like a burned clutch? I've smelled what you're describing in a 991 3.4L when downshifting into high rpms. Wasnt my car but it drove perfectly, I took it for being normal.

Fast car smell.
Look under the rear bumper. See those big fat rear tires? See those exhaust parts (headers, cats, mufflers)? Now ya know.

You are going to learn to love that smell. Seriously. Think Pavlov.

If the smell is a "new" smell, then I'd be concerned.
Have you had the car for very long? After 39k miles I suspect you'd be familiar with that "hot Porsche smell" (unless you've somehow managed to never drive it hard after 39k miles which is, quite frankly, unthinkable).
If you haven't had the car for very long, I bet you can count on hearing on the expected comment on this forum as well as from your friendly Porsche service team: "That's normal".

You won't be able to smell the clutches in a PDK since they are multi-plate wet clutches sealed in a fluid bath inside the tranny, so that couldn't be it.
I agree with the others that you just aren't used to the hot Porsche engine smell likely getting a significant contribution from tire bits thrown up on the exhaust. On a 991.1 the side exhaust cans are well-exposed and pick up and cook bits of rubber. Very common when driven really hard.

"If there were an illegal drug called Porsche I would snort it like cocaine and beat you mercilessly for money to feed my addiction."
That quote, from this video, is why I'm a Porsche guy.

Burning Brakes
My 2011 911 still has that smell after driving....love it.
I just wish the inside smelled like the old Porsches used to (kind of a musty, horse hair smell).

Agree. It is alarming the first time one experiences it. I experienced it on the track. Stuff gets really hot and if you dont know any better, it smells like something must be wrong. But it’s just hot stuff that normally don’t get that hot, such as brakes and tires.
