Default Jack point stands

Just ordered some Jack point stands, having a hard time finding a low profile floor jack.
main obstacle is the width of the jack needs to be 11 3/4 inches or under.
Tough to find for 3 tons some cheap ones at 1 1/2 tons.
Some expensive track ones out there.
What are you guys using?
Thanks for any insight.

I use this one from Harbor Freight. Have had no issues with it and have used it many times over the last 3 years of so.

I use one of the "cheapo" 1.5 ton ones. Why do you need a 3 ton jack? The jack point pad just barely slides into place under my SPASM-equipped car. If the car were any lower, it wouldn't fit and I'd have to use a few 2x4s or bricks under the wheels to give me enough room.

Same here. The $60 1.5 ton aluminum one works terrific. I actually use two to speed things up.

Pnuts: yes i looked at this floor Jack and dismissed it because in its description it stated width is 13" plus. JPS say they require one a width of something less of 11 3/4" to fit in the opening of their Jack Point Stand I guess i am missing something obvious on how the fitment of the jack and stand works.

As others say, you don't need a 3 ton jack working on your Porsche. However, I strongly suggest you get 2 jacks. Although one jack will still work, but you really need 2 jacks to make your life a lot easier.

That width includes the rear wheels. I have this jack and the jackpoint stands and it fits and works fine.

The Jackpoint people are really nice but they need to work out a better deal on shipping. I ordered 2 sets of Jackpoints and then cancelled the order when I saw the $150 shipping charge. Add it all up and buying a portable hydaulic lift, a QuickJack, is in the same price range.

Thanks, John i was looking at these floor jacks mostly all from the front and with their wide front wheels (assumed) that was the widest point.

Default 2 Ton Low Profile Floor Jack

I purchased the 2 Ton Pittsburgh Low Profile Floor Jack from Harbor Freight last year. The jack is made from steel and works great with my Jack Point Stands. I must add the floor jack just fits in the open section of the Jack Point stands. My apologies, this is the only picture I have of the floor jack with the Jack Point Stand.

All you truly need are 2 jack point stands, 2 standard stands (cheaper), and one floor jack. Incredibly easy:
  1. Jack the car up from the rear jack point until you can fit one standard stand under the front of the car and one jackpoint stand where you're lifting.
  2. Let the car down - now one whole side is up.
  3. Pull out the floor jack and repeat on opposite side.
  4. Admire your hard work and good fortune.

Yes, it’s my car. This picture was taken March 2017. And yes, I do drive her more now that I’m retired. In order to keep the underside looking spotless I will not drive her in the rain, and twice a year I remove the wheels and detail the underside and calipers. I keep my car detailed and in show room condition always. I guess you can say I’m a bit OCD.
