DIY Sport Design Rear Spoiler Carrera T
From the first time I saw the Sports Design rear spoiler on a 991.2 GTS, I fell in love with it. But not with the nearly $5K price for the full Sports Design package. So, after the group buy fiasco of the Sport Design rear spoiler announced by Suncoast, I started looking for the part, and found it at a very reasonably price at Sunset Porsche for around $1,100.00 A couple of weeks later, the package arrived. The spoiler comes already primed, and ready to paint.
I was seriously thinking about doing the paint job myself, but given the attention this piece would get, I took it to the best body shop I know, and I've used in the past: Caliber Collision in Houston (Willowbrook location). Their work was PERFECT. They did an absolutely perfect paint match, and the finish is outstanding. It looks like a mirror. And once installed, I find it impossible to distinguish it from the paint on the rest of the car.
If you are planning on doing this yourself, it is an extremely easy procedure.
1. Lift the rear spoiler.
2. Locate the 6 screw covers on the edge of the spoiler (edge closest to the engine)
3.- Cover the space between the spoiler and the grille with a towel in case you drop anything in there.
4. Pop the covers out with a very small screwdriver. You need to insert the screwdriver from the right side of the cover and just lift carefully.
5. Using a hollow center Torx T-20 bit, remove the 6 screws with a small drive ratchet, so it will fit in the small space:
6. After removing all 6 screws, just pull straight back the top of the spoiler, and it will slide off easily, revealing the spoiler support:
7. Slide the new Sport Design spoiler, put back the screws and tap the holes with the covers.
7. Enjoy the new Spoiler !!!!
I will try to post better outdoor pictures tomorrow. So far, I love the new look!

Love it, and I added it as an option on my ordered Targa GTS, which costs $1500 so with the paint you were probably pretty close to that price...great job. I just wish it wasn't so easy since I wanted to have one of the few cars that has it!

I’d love to see a full broadside shot in the sun if you take one.

Someone posted that with the SD rear spoiler the car should be programmed as such so it doesn't go up as high (as stock). Have you looked into that?
Thanks for posting this! It's one of the mods I am probably going to do immediately upon getting my T. And the car looks great!
