Default Air Freshener thread

This other thread inspired me to start this one. (Didn't want to hijack.)

My 991.2 is now 18 months old and the original leather smell is almost gone. This is usually the time when I pick a scent for any car I own. However, I am EXTREMELY picky and have been hugely disappointed in most mainstream air fresheners. I am looking for something subtle, consistent. Something to build on and complement the car's character. Not a flowery explosion in your face.
I also like consistency, i.e. not a short term seasonal product, but something that's forever and becomes the car itself and recognizable only to me.
In my BMW, I use their OEM "natural air" series which fits perfectly (those scents are designed by BMW's in-house staff). I wish Porsche offered something similar but they don't....and everything aftermarket is a gamble. I actually had decent experience with Yankee Candle in the past but I don't think they offer any fragrance made for car enthusiasts. Long story short.... I am looking for HIGH QUALITY.

What are your experiences and go-to products?

Is this for real?

air freshener? It’s a smell cover-upper.

you like BMW air fresheners.... but they don’t work in a Porsche? Why would you want Porsche to make a quality air freshener? Should they design on for base model, S and GT cars?

get with the game and do like the rest of us, when the new car smell is gone you donate the car and buy a new one.

Well he certainly can't have his Porsche smell like a lowly BMW now can he?

Seriously, if you like the smell of Porsche leather, get Zaino Z10 leather conditioner. A fantastic product and it maintains the Porsche leather smell. No need for an air freshener.

+1 on the Zaino Z10. It works great. I personally cant stand air fresheners, unless being sprayed in the bathroom after a poo, then it's ok.

If your car has to smell like something it might as well smell like a stripper.

We have watch threads here and all kinds of fun stuff. So an air freshener thread isn’t out of the areas of interest.
Porsche sells shirts and espresso cups so why not.

They also have scent engineers to design that “new Porsche smell” - every detail is engineered.

Fragrance engineering is a science in its own, did you know that Porsche dealerships use scents? It’s a subliminal thing.

In my line of work I deal with design, details, and user experience. Everything matters. To each its own but I am perceptive to scents and how they play into building the character and personality of an object or space.

I’ve heard about the Z-10, will try it!

I love the new car smell. Wish that smell could stay in the car forever.

As an aside, I took my car to the dealership to get the car inspected, and they sprayed some crap in there - very sweet smelling -- and I could not wait for it to dissipate!

Science of smell or not.....this is something my young daughter would have posted on the Prius forum. I guess I am so used to my old E type and 911 smelling like burnt oil that I never thought about keeping that new Porsche smell.
