Talk me out of somewhat impulse buying a 991.1 4S, please.

Also the BGTS is no baby Porsche, it is right up there with the best.
Good luck!

Drive both.
I couldn’t talk myself out of a dot 1 C4S in the perfect config for me. It’s plenty fast and sounds great.
The dot 2 is no doubt awesome.

Wife-Stick
I have 3 cars all stick, wife cant drive a stick. Me, happy no one else is driving my cars.
Main issue is when we take trips all we want to take is the Boxster now. A couple of problems with that:
1. My wife can't drive a stick. So on our recent 4,000 mile trip if I'd twisted my ankle, hurt my arm, or just gotten sick we'd have been in trouble. Teaching her to drive a stick is a... work in progress...
2. We can't fit our little dogs in the Boxster, so it is either drive the BMW or get a housesitter for the dogs.
The 911 would be my daily and used for trips. The Boxster would be for weekend duty.

Thank you all for the responses. After sleeping on it a couple of nights I don't think it makes sense to get a 911. At least not right now. If anything I'd love to get back down to three cars, but there is no configuration where a 911 fits in conveniently with my usage.

Another warning. If you really want the 991.1, don't drive the 991.2. You may regret not getting the extra low-end torque once you feel it as well as the more modern electronics. There's a recent thread warning about not driving a newer or higher-end model unless you are ready to buy it.
Any 911 is a great 911.

Quoting for OP's original post: "... talk me out of replacing my BMW with a well-equipped 991.1 4S. I have a friend with a base 2018 Carrera. I'm going to take it for a quick drive this week to see how I feel about the NA 3.8 with the PDK versus the turbo 3.0 with the PDK. As much as I love my NA 981, I wonder if the 3.0 turbo might be a better fit for daily driving with the PDK."

Yeah, don’t go drive either cuz you’ll be screwed. My Porsche buy story when I traded in my BMW M4 (and my truck ) for a 991.1 GTS:

No .. Not going to talk you out of it. Bought my 911.1 2016 C4S (CPO) 6 weeks ago. It was an awakening.
Got a good laugh on the valet parking comment. Did a college visit to ND earlier in the week and the Morris Inn only has valet parking. Fortunately, the evening valet wanted nothing to do with parking my car. But in the morning, this highly strung young lady took some exception when I expressed my desire to fetch my own car, with it plain sight.. Had a good laugh. Kinda left it as..."look, if you tap something on the way out, is it worth it to you? I mean the risk here, is it worth it?"
She handed me the keys with, well, you know the grin.
