Ever since I got the car 3 months ago, I have been hearing this interior rattling noise, couldn't really figure out what it is.....Looked into the usual suspect (ie armrest, seat belt etc.) still nothing, besides I noticed that it is coming from the back. I know the adaptive sport seats does squeak a little at times...but no big deal and I can tell the diff between the two.
Today I drove it to work (which is about 70 miles RT) and after pushing up on all panels top side front back etc etc. I eliminated it to the rear seat that's making the noise. If i grab onto the passenger side rear seat back, the rattling stops....So i went home and dig a little deeper and found that it was a SCREW of some sort inside the seat back that's making the rattling noise....See video link below..... and I found that one of the screws is missing from the seat back that holds the plastic piece (not sure the purpose of it......but). I dont think I can get the screw out since it seems like it is logged inside the seat.....(how weird)
Anyhow, Will let the dealer take care of it next time I am in ( i am under CPO warranty) they have a window switch on order for me, so will have this fixed as well.....But man this is one of the oddest thing I have seen so far and I am glad that I found it...
Good job. Rattles and squeaks inside any car are amongst the most illusive things in life, like snow leopards, probably. My last one turned out to be the little ring on a plastic water bottle that's left after the cap is taken off.
I have the same rattling sound in my brand new 911T. It drives me nuts!!!! Took it to the dealer. The car has been there for a week with no results.
Good job man on locating where the sound is coming from.
excellent post. i have a mystery rattle that I am currently ignoring (windows down, sports mode) but your video has given me a place to start looking. thanks
I recently had a new rattle/squeak in the back of my car. Was driving me nuts for almost week. When I went to finally investigate I found the staple gun I had taken to work and put on the rear floorboard after using it.....lol
I found a small water bottle under the passenger front seat in my last 911. It was making a base kind of thud for a month until I figured it out. I was about to take the passenger door panel off but instead I took one more look under the seat and saw the top of the unopened full mini bottle of water. It said Boston Terriers on it.
I once had a rattle that I really thought was coming from the passenger side dash. After many months, I found that it was an empty plastic Poland spring water bottle that had rolled under the passenger seat and was rattling and creaking over bumps. There was much happiness with this revelation!
Glad you were able to find the source. That is the hardest part. Had a squeak coming from the left rear area of my car after about a year of ownership. Turned out to be the upper left rear strut mount needed some grease.
Mine's been to the dealer four times to fix rattles. Each time, they've allegedly found and fixed the issue, but as I drive off the dealer lot the rattle is still there. Starting to think they just park it for a few hours then call me to come get it.
