Full PPF On Jet Black Paint Worth It?
Got a quote on a full PPF for my jet black 991.2 . I was expecting to pay around 5k and turns out to be almost twice that. Ive never owned a black car and my main concern is swirl marks, especially since this is a black car and I will be cleaning it often.
Would love to hear from anyone that has had full ppf on a black car. How much time/ grief did a full PPF it save you when it came to swirl marks? Tks

I've had PPF on a lot of Porsches, not a full one. I have had a full Vinyl done recently. PPF will also get swirl marks, it like paint needs to be cared for properly. It won't be as easily scratched nor will it show them as much.
Some conditions may impact your decision:
- Where do you live.
- How much do you drive.
- How much rainy weather do you drive in. Though this shouldn't matter if you clean correctly, however the odds increase that tiny grains of grit will be on paint when you touch it.
- How often you have to wash.
- Do you strictly hand wash.
You'll get answers from why bother it is a car drive it to if you can afford it do it. If you can get a quality job done and can easily afford it and plan keeping car for a while then sure, I would do it.

$10k is insane, that's totally unheard of. FWIW I usually pay $1000-1200 for paint correction, full front PPF including side skirts and around rear wheels, plus ceramic coating of the whole car including wheels and calipers. Completely wrapping the car should be around $5k or so, so shop around and find someone more reasonable.
Make sure you do paint correction first and ceramic coating after, don't skip those. If you're going to wash your own car it makes sense to wrap the whole car. If you use a mobile detailer that knows how to be careful, you'd be fine with just doing the front. I had three black cars washed by my mobile detailer for years without adding any swirl marks at all. My friend with a black car ruined his paint job with just one wash, even though he thought he knew what he was doing. He had just had the paint correction and ceramic coating done, too.

I recently had full front (the best quality Sunteck) down at dealer for $2500. Took it to a local Cquartz done for another $1000.

Its too pricey. I have full hood, bumper, front fenders, under both doors and 3/4 high on rear fenders and under rear fenders in Sunteks best for $2800. Full car would have been $4000_$4500. $10k is too much.

I have JBM paint and wrapped my entire car in Xpel Ultimate for $4500. I'm glad I did, the finish is mirror like and I have much less concerns with washing at home on a frequent basis.

$1200 for full front and rear quarter panels using ClearGuard Nano plus minor correction (didn't need much tbh). Extremely clear and zero orange peel. No one has noticed yet. Well worth the price. Black C4S.

I won't comment on the pricing, but will comment on JBM and PPF and ceramic coating. It's awesome. Cleans up easier than any dark car I've ever had, looks good much longer (I daily mine) and it does make cleaning much easier. Was it worth it? Well, it was spendy, but that cost is sunk, and now I reap the benefits every single day. And the Jet Black Metallic is just a beautiful color.
