I sure don't understand all the anxiety over the 4 cylinder turbos. Isn't it what the car is capable of doing not what's under the hood that counts. Some really poor unnecessary comments about the 718 engine and sound. Don't like it don't buy it. But they are very capable road and track cars with amazing balance and handling. Sound can always be dealt with.
As far as sound, is the 991.1 unworthy since it doesn't sound like the Aston V8 or others? What's being done with smaller capacity engines as far as performance today is amazing. Fast and efficient. It's happening deal with it.
This "mine is better, bigger, louder and more valuable" gets tiring.
Being a nerd, I looked up the test figures for several of the latest models and summarized them below. These are all Car and Driver numbers from PDK-equipped cars. Since they are all from the same source, hopefully they employ the same testing methodology for the cars.

I personally have always like turbo-4 bangers. WRC and rally-cross cars are freaking awesome. It should be noted the Porsche 919 LMP car is a 4-cylinder..... only the fastest track car in the world with the Evo variant.

No. Won't be close in a straight line or on a track. Maybe in an autocross.
If you want faster, install a PowerKit with full warranty. Or a tune if you are a warranty risk taker.
add multiple performance options: PDCC, PCCB, SC, PDK, PSE and PowerKit... all of these will make it perform better on the track. My C4S is basically all GTS that does not look as aggressive.
There is is no one perfect car. We all drive differently and want different experience. 0 - 60... end of second gear or just shifted to 3rd. What about the other 4 to 5 gears?
If if you want speed tune the engine. If you want to track, tune engine and suspension.
Most important fill fill it up with gas as often as you can, that means you are driving your car which is the most important metric to determine its value in my opinion.

Good points. And don't forget RAS. Its very helpful in many ways, and gets you around curvy streets and roads more quickly. And if you have any 991.2 with PSE and the exhaust sounds don't thrill, take a look at alternatives to the OEM cats. That's where most of the exhaust muffling occurs with PSE turned on. I replied mine with Cargraphics, and it now has the most amazing exhaust sounds and quicker spool up of the turbos. Fun!

Something about those numbers for the 911s tell me that the various iterations of the 911 were not on the same tires.

Correct, Soul high-flow cats did the trick for me in the sound department; Porsche took care of the performance department.
If I only cared about 0-60, I’d buy a hellcat. No thanks!
Sorry, but Hellcats and Demons can't keep up with a 991.2 S or X51 S or GTS in 0-60 or most 1/4 mile contests. And forget about those Dodges on a track They are way too heavy, too under-tired, and have the wrong center of gravity to compete with 991.2 S or better. And forget any competition on a track with braking and turns. Check out these times versus those below i just posted earlier for 991.2 Porsches...

2) your car sounds better
3) your car is more comfortable
4) your car has 4 seats
