Question PCCB

Why are there so few people that order the PCCB?

I love the look and feel of the carbon ceramic brakes.

Is it just a cost thing? Or performance?

One reason is the cost-to-performance ratio appears to be very high. Regular steel Porsche brakes are awesome--dirty, but awesome.

This question has been beaten to death elsewhere on RL, so perhaps search and you may be enlightened.

Very pricey option and replacement cost is really, really high.

That being said, I had PCCBs on my previous and current 991s. Love the feel, the lack of brake dust, and the looks. With street use, they should last a really long time.

If I was going to do DEs, I would have gotten the steels.

They come standard on the TTS so these are my first experience with them. I don’t track anymore but for daily backroad twisty driving and when needed to adjust for the terrible Pa drivers they are great. Once use to them I really like the brake feel and who doesn’t love no break dust. Would do again on the next car.

I love it... I do think it is overkill for most of people out there.. but I would get it for low break dust and look PLUS... it will last very long time....

DE - Driving Events?

I will track the car. I want the carbon ceramic on the track.

I had carbon ceramic on my previous car. I like the looks and performance. I added them to my order.

You will consume them a lot quicker on the track. At $20k for a full set of rotors....I would rather go through a lot of steels for that kind of money. To each his own.

Sounds like fun.

the carbon ceramic brakes hold up a lot longer than steel. I only track 2 to 3 times a summer. My last car showed very little wear and tear.

I think you can get 20+ track days out of a set of PCCBs. If you only track 2-3 times a year, then no issue.
I would be replacing a set each year.

I would like them on a future car. My main concern would be a tech at a dealer dropping a wheel on a PCCB and then me not finding out until I got home and having to spend $5k for a replacement rotor.

I got them for two reasons. First, of course the braking performance is amazing. Second, the reduced rotating mass means better acceleration as well as better braking. The total lack of brake dust is just a bonus.

My Indie shop guy tells me the rotors do chip very easily. He has to be super careful when pulling or installing wheels. They are lovely brakes for someone who doesn't do many track days.
