After having to confirm via alternate links that 'fox news' got it right, seems a great showing by Porsche and Hyundai. Amazing how the 911 and Porsche brand have always maintained quality hierarchy within the industry. Unheard of for a boutique brand known for sports cars and high performance cars to score higher than appliance brands. There's your magic potion secret sauce right there.

I can attest that Hyundai is on a roll. We got a brand new Sonata (her car, and sort of a DD for me). It's actually pretty incredible. A true pleasure, and very opposite to the 911 in a perfectly complimentary way. And for $200 a month with not a dime paid at signing. Probably the best car value I've ever heard of. And it looks quite sleek and expensive (ours is black on black with tinted windows) with the new facelift treatment. Insanely spacious inside as well.

My 911 is all about as raw and analogue an experience I can muster from a modern car (a stick would have rounded that out, not to mention the 991 platform is often too inherently refined for my desires). No backup camera, I couldn't care less about the infotainment, etc. The Sonata on the other hand comes with standard CarPlay which works a lot more fluidly and is slicker than Porsche's CarPlay you get in the newer 911/Macan's, lane assist nannies that I don't like because I don't want to train myself to depend on them, and just gives me more of that relaxed tech vibe. Polar opposites which I enjoy being able to pick through depending on mood or necessity.

It's from all those crisp $1.00 bills that JDP mails out.

I always wonder about these. I have two 2012 cars, the Porsche has 82k miles on it with maybe 10 things gone wrong since then (not counting consumables like brakes, tires) and the Nissan has 102k miles eith zero things gone wrong. Zero.

I was wondering about the COV valve issue. I guess since the COVs generally fail after the 'initial quality' evaluation period, they aren't considered to be relevant.

Default A car is a car, not a computer

A car is a car and should remain exactly that. Same goes for a 911 (of any generation for that matter). When I need a computer I'll use my laptop or smartphone.

Suuuure, but thanks for asking ;-))...
Just stumbled on this thread and had the urge to respond...
Moreover what's true in 2018 is still true in 2024 or probably even 10 years from now when it comes to what us Porsche 911 enthusiasts think about our motor vehicles, could we agree on that ? :-))

Last minute update: Noticed that I accidently responded to the wrong topic. Sorry about that, my comment now even looks to me as 'off topic' in the context of this particular thread.
