9A2 Achille’s heel inquiry
#46
I posted a question over on the 992 forum wondering if anyone had concerns about the 9A2 engine and AS/S -- didn't know about this thread at the time. Is there any new info on potential cumulative damage to 9A2 engines. And did anyone notice that the 992 has the ability to permanently turn AS/S off in your profile was left out of the 992? (or so I interpreted the discussion in my 992 thread, correct me if I am wrong.) Why would they do that? I'm pretty sure having AS/S as the default upon purchase is sufficient to get AS/S savings included in CAFE calculations. After all, they can't skew CAFE calculations because I choose to launch my car at every stoplight.

Can count on one hand the number of times since delivery that stop/start has been active (over two years), the exceptions being that I forgot to select "Sport" on the SC dial, it is my default setting.
No one will ever convince me that stop/start doesn't impose additional wear on a car's components.
Always warm up on cold start and stay under 4k RPM. The main roads I hit right after leaving home allow steady cruising at 45+ until the engine oil hits 190+.
Followed Porsche recommendation on break in and changed the oil and filter right after hitting that mark, figure that gets rid of any stuff like assembly lube traces, cheap insurance.

The only thing wrong with the 9A2 has nothing to do with the engine.... the waterpump is garbage (almost 100% failure on 2017's) if you arent paying attention you could damage the engine.
