Default Launch Control Almost Destroyed Both My Vehicles

Normally, I don't post the moves that make me look really stupid but this one was worth sharing! Short background, I have had 3 - 911's since 2014 - all with launch control capability. I never used it with my 2014 or 2016 C2. My first experience with launch control was unintended as I was trying to get my GT3 on my trailer. My trailer is a tilt type trailer and requires left foot braking and right foot gas. Because the GT3 is a free clutch PDK-S is does not readily engage as I was accustomed. As I was trying to drive up the trailer bed, I increase throttle and held the brake to control the forward momentum. Because the the PDK-S does not engage in similar fashion to my other 911's, I inadvertently engaged launch control, while on the trailer. Most GT3 track rats get brown spots in their pants on the track, mine was on a trailer. I froze and did not know what to do. The engine was revving at 6k and did not know how to stop it, having never used it before. What an experience! There should be a trailer mode on PCM as this could have been a real disaster. Hope someone learns from this debacle.

Just turn the car off or move the shifter if you're in that situation again... The right thing to do is let off the gas. Glad you didn't end up in a disastrous situation.

Don’t you need to floor it -hard- to engage launch control?

A wench is always good to have, but this situations calls for a winch!

But probably costs more than this

Seriously, every car trailer needs a basic winch to avoid just the sort of adventure the OP (almost) had.

I was at the track (Mosport) a few years ago and a guy drove his lotus onto his trailer (as the Lotus was having mechanical issues) and the trailer was not hooked up to the truck (moved beside). anyways the guy was sitting in his car on the trailer rolling down a hill and had no control. the trailer crashed into the ladies washroom and did some damage. The worst part was the guy had his wife at the track and she berated him all the drive home!

Go up the ramp in reverse to avoid this?

I froze for an instant, then foot off the gas and the launch control deactivated on its own after what seemed like an eternity.

I was under the impression that you could only launch in sport + mode. Huh interesting.
