Depends which power plant, the next GT4 has in it. If it has the 4.0L NA, engine, I would do it in a heartbeat. But, your used GTS will only cover the cost of the new GT4 if it has this power plant.
If the GT4 has the 4 cylinder turbo engine....walk.

I’ve thought about a similar setup, but I decided it’ll better to skip the skip the Macan and just use an SUV that I won’t mind getting all the dings and salt and everything. I have a Nissan SUV right now but they’re pretty much mushy garbage, I’m considering replacing it with a Wrangler.

I figured. The way you presented the topic wasn't very clear and misleading.
Here's an idea, keep the GTS Targa and buy a pre-owned or new Macan S. I bet you will cost you less $$$ or same amount than trading it in for a GT4 and difference you'll pay.
The Targa GTS can play many roles and a GREAT all around sports car.

A well-equiped Targa GTS for the next GT4 and a Macan S? (I have been promised a spot for the next GT4 allocations, I would keep my Targa GTS until the order locks).
My Targa GTS has really taken a beating this winter, and I think for that reason the Macan S would be a better daily driver. I took one when my car was in for service and I was pleasantly surprised by it's utility. I would use the GT4 for nice summer days and track duty. Thoughts?

i say keep the targa and wait and see what happens with the new gt4.
im sure the targa is more than good enough at the track though, it sure would be more car than my skills require even with a moderate amount of track experience that I do have.

this. Seems like the newest rumors are 4 cylinder power, hard pass on that for me.
