Talk Me Out of Getting a Black 911

I disagree that black has good resale value. When I'm checking the boxes on Autotrader I check every color box but black; and would never consider a black car even if the car like for like is substantially less expensive.

People always confuse resale value with resale liquidity. Dealers get black, silver and white because they move quickly because it’s a large supply/large demand market, they’re more liquid. Rarer colors often go for more because it’s a lower supply/lower demand market and less liquid. So there’s a much larger spread between the price you can get if you simply must sell right now and the price you can get if you wait. With a black/silver/white car, you can get a certain amount for a car and waiting isn’t going to net you any more because there are plenty of examples on the market.

After seven black cars, and only one of those was built to order I might say, I was done. Then the 991.2 allocations dried up and I hunted for used. Guess what... yep, here we go again, black.

IMO, black is CLEARLY the best for luxury cars. I've had that for a few including my Panamera, a M-B and a BMW. We all know that black, when you are willing to spend your entire existence looking after it, is out of this world. My Boxster was also black
Sports cars don't need or necessarily want that. Brighter (and easier) colors simply make sense on a sports car. See Lambo, Ferrari, and others. Try to have a great car that you love that isn't black. My 991 is Agate Gray, which works, is rich, and I can get away with a little dust and still be papa-proud. Not so much on my Pan or Boxster.

Black 911
Again, black, gray, silver 911's are a dime a dozen, at least where I live. Although the owner certainly enjoys the ride, a black/gray/silver 911 certainly doesn't appear "special" in these parts. Why not go for a nice actual color? There are plenty of good color choices, but I just can't see getting yet another black 911. It's so cliche!

After owning couple black cars, I gave up on that color because I’m OCD about keep my car clean.
Wahing/waxing a black car sure looks good, but it would only looks good for half of a day. To me, I won’t even get paid to have a black car, and it’s automatic deal breaker when I shopping for cars.

I do the same thing....except I do check black and I don't check white, gray, or red. Black is just a classic color and not difficult to maintain. It goes very well on the 911. Definitely some cars that black does not look good on. I currently own a black truck (looks awesome) and a white RAV4. Now white is a color I'll never own again. It actually shows dirt worse than the black and is a PITA to keep clean. Personally I wish they brought some decent greens back.
