Sooooooo true. Porsche dealers pay the least too surprisingly. Known of guys getting $5K+++ more from good indy dealers. Who by the way, turn around the cars and have lower margins than you'd expect. Less than $9K on say a $80K car. Porsche dealers will low ball and try and make at least $15K on the same car with a higher asking price too.

Trading into a dealer is nuts. You might as well flush $10-$15K down the toilet. Dealers offered me $43K on my Macan S, which I sold for over $52K private party. Not chump change.

No surprise there. I'm sure the Porsche dealer made a decent margin on my car, though they did negotiate on sales price. But they only made $500 or so on my trade - met the new owner of my truck via the forum where I was selling my leftover parts.

Problem is here is if you sell to a private party or a dealer where you don't buy something from them, you flush 6.5% down the toilet in tax credits.

I think Porsche's move from an NA to a turbo engine in the Carreras is a greater paradigm shift than the move from an air cooled to a water cooled engine. That being said, I would expect the value of 911.1 Carreras to rise with each passing year, similar to the steady rise in the value of the 993s.

I see your logic here.

Would the 997 then represent the 996 in your sequence?

997.2's are holding up better than 991.1's.

991.1's will not keep going up in value. Still downside deprecation ahead.

Yup. Agreed. However, the 991.1’s are too new to keep moving up now (the fact that they already have, since the .2’s came out, is a huge testament and forward looking statement). They’ll likely depreciate some, then hold a solid ground sooner than they would’ve, had N/A’s not gone extinct in the new car market, then eventually start moving back up.

Makes sense, considering 997.2’s have already depreciated more, and are well past warranty periods.

I searched for my 991.1 for a long time, on and off for a couple years. As result, I have a habit of continually checking my Autotrader alerts etc.... It appears 991.1s leveled out for a while, lost some value, and are now on an up swing (possibly caused by summer).

I was fairly surprised what dealers asking for some "higher optioned" ($140K+ 991.1 C2Ss) and low mileage examples. I am not sure what dealers are actually getting but these "rarer" examples are selling for much more now than they were 6-12 months ago. My car is heavily optioned and at the moment, I would likely be priced out of the market compared to back in November.

I agree - it makes sense that the 991.1 will depreciate further before it holds steady and then appreciates. It is pretty impressive how well its resale prices are holding up thus far. Only time will tell if it achieves cult status similar to the 993, the last of the air cooled engines, but given that it is the last and most powerful generation of the NA flat six in the Carrera, I like its chances.

I’d sell my CPO 48.000 mile Agate 2013 C2S 7mt Sport Design with black leather interior and 18 ways for 80k. That’s what it’d take to make my cold dead hands at least somewhat warm with a bit of life.

I’d give you 80k if it weren’t for that front plate!
