It's here, and I'm ecstatic!!
Well, here she is…my long awaited ’18 GTS. I was lucky enough to be one of the 6 winners from the Spring 2017 PCA Members Only Raffle. While the wait was frustrating and at times excruciating (thanks for letting me vent here!), I can now say it was well worth the wait!
Build thoughts & initial impressions (as a first time 911 owner with ~250 miles under my belt):
-Very solid car. I’m absolutely amazed that a car that feels like a tank when it’s sitting still can be so fast and nimble.
-The torque pull is astounding. Think about pushing your toe forward and the car jumps.
-90 MPH seems to be it’s “sweet spot”...you know, that speed where everything seems in harmony and comfortable as you cruise down the road. This might be a problem...
-4200 RPM limit for even 1000 miles is a pipe dream. If you did it, you’re a better man than I.
-PDK and RAS were EXCELLENT choices on my part.
-SO glad I went Sapphire Blue. That is all I’ll say about that.
-Once I mentally separated from the “need to coordinate interior & exterior colors" I went with my gut, and am VERY happy with Agate Grey w/deviated stitching. It’s just gorgeous with the extended & optional leather. And you guys were dead on—that steering column looks unbelievable.
-The mini-ducktail makes me smile every time I look at it.
The wheels. I’ve mentioned in other threads my love of the Fuchs wheels. My first--and probably only--911 had to have this look…they just make a 911 look like a 911 is supposed to look in my mind. I shopped extensively, and couldn’t get past the factory 50th Anniversary wheels as an option. When I asked about ordering a set thru the dealer, my SA claimed there were only 5 available sets left at the factory. I ordered a set, having never seen any in person. They've been sitting at the dealer for months waiting for the car to arrive, and were installed prior to my delivery. I’m blown away. They look incredible. They make the car, to me. The finish is exactly how I imagined. The required spacers actually beefed up the rear a bit (If that is even possible. THOSE CURVES!). Probably the single best decision I made with regards to the build.
Thank you to everyone here who patiently answered questions--publicly and via PM, offered knowledge & advice, talked me off the ledge during delays, and helped with the tracking once it left Germany! I had ZERO 911 knowledge the day I started this ride, so the learning curve was very steep! You helped immensely.
I am one happy 911 owner!! (but I still miss my 968. )
