Default Wheel/Tire Insurance

Can someone please point me to the recent thread about wheel and tire insurance? I tried search and failed to find it.

In the alternative, are $2900/3 yrs and $3800/5 yrs reasonable prices?

Apparently, I am also going to be offered prepaid maintenance. What are fair prices and should I get it?

If you live and drive anywhere near NYC, they can't charge you enough. The potholes are so large, DiBlasio even considered a toll to go over them.

I was quoted a price of 1500 for 3 years I think. I declined. I live in Northern NE but not a large city. Potholes are bad during winters. I use minus sized 19inch wheels and winter tires and dodge potholes,

I do live in the NYC area but, even so, those prices seem high.

Or you could put $2900 in the bank, and see where you are after 3 years. Let's say in that time you have 2 flats and bust one wheel. The total expense would be less than your bank balance (except for some exotic optional wheels). And if you have only one flat, and are even moderately careful and never even scrape a wheel, you can pay for a budget trip to Stuttgart.

I paid 1800 for 5 year wheel and tire package including door ding repair, windshield repair/replace, and key replacement. Negotiate with your finance person. Good luck!

Read the fine print on any plan you purchase.

Many plans do not cover curb rash.

Generally speaking, I am not a fan of these plans and have never bought one prior to last year. I do not have a plan on my 991.2, but I bought one on my wife's 2017 Macan S with 21" wheels. $1,200 for 3 years. Bought her car in August of last year. Have already replaced two tires due to nails. $394 all in for each tire, mount, balance, etc. All we did was sign a piece of paper.

Typically there is some negotiation in these packages as they are nicely profitable for the dealer. It will also help that the dealer will stand behind you and not the insurance company. I.e difference between a "repaired" wheel vs a new one.

Who did you get yours through?
Sound like a good plan for CL on GTS. Cosmetic too? Deductible?

I paid $1495 for 60 months for my CL GTS which included wheel cosmetic (optional).
Only 50.00 deductible each use.

I'm also from SE Michigan...my Ann Arbor Porsche dealer found best rate through "Audi Pure Protection".

I have trouble understanding these plans... I’ve had the 991 for like 4 years and I think I’ve picked up one puncture? $250 for a new tire and $50 deductable if I had purchased a plan means I’d get maybe $200 back from the four digit cost of the plan?

I always avoid insurances for things that are low-cost though.
