Jack points
perhaps a dumb question but I am still learning. So was cleaning the rockers was looking at the jack points while considering doing my own oil change. I saw the rear jack points and and it looks like the painted ridge just to the outside edge of the jack point that runs along the body is flattened a little. It’s the same on both sides, is this normal or dealer miss the jack point a little bit? I assume they put it on the rack at some point when doing initial start up but I could also be wrong. Anyhow was just wondering, like I said I was looking into changing the oil and read about special pucks that fit the jack points so i thought I would take a look.
Edit, photo below, I think this is normal, same contour on all four points. I just freaked a little when I read about having to use special pucks, lol. Don’t laugh, I am sure you all freaked a little with your first new 911
Thx

Who's been chewing on your car? Looks like someone hasn't been using the little pucks.
I can't comment on the little flat spot since my 991.1 C4S looks like it has different jack points.
Is your car a 991.2?

Yes 991.2.
Wasnt sure this this was normal? I usually don’t lay on the ground at the dealership, lol.
Only the dealer new car prep? Not sure if they put up in the air? And the when the PPF was installed, I would hope to Hell they used the pucks but I don’t know, that’s why I asked here.
Can any other 991.2 owners let me know what their cars look like. I guess at the end of the day no big, but i guess I will chalk it up to another thing I need to obsess over.

I took a picture of mine for comparison... they look the same.
Edit: On a second look I see that split towards the left of the photo.... I do not have that if that is what you are mentioning.
It appears that they are using more of the sealant/deadener than they used to one the 997 models which is making it look a bit nastier when it gets squished during the lift. Here's a photo I found from a 997.

Here's my rear jack point on the 991.1 C4S.
The 991.2's must have more sound deadening as mentioned above.

Strangely, on my 1987,89 and 95 911 I jacked them with a large stopper designed for a scientific laboratory. They are both inexpensive and perfectly functional. The jack scared me worse than the stoppers. I am now too old and without courage. I no longer jack the car for oil changes or wheel replacements. I have become an expert in check-writing.

991.1 owner chiming in, I too am a bit timid about jacking a P Car ( needing two jacks to avoid too much stress on the chassis, weird jack points, ect). I got a pair of Rhino Ramps from Amazon and some wheel chocks for I think $40 out the door, and it's perfect for oil and spark plug changes.

Hockey pucks. Well, one of them anyway. For changing summer and winter wheels, I use a floor jack and a hockey puck to raise one side of the car at a time, using only the rear jack point.

I sometimes use a DIY shop here in Austin that has hydraulic lifts and tools you can rent by the hour. The guy there was helping us and used a puck between the lift plate and the frame on my son's Acura. It slipped out with the car in the air and scared the heck out of us when the car shifted and dropped a little in that corner. Fortunately the metal plate snagged enough of the frame not to drop the car further... but there's no way I'll use a non-locking puck on a car again. There's a reason there is a locking hole there.
