I've seen this topic in a few threads, but haven't seen someone who's installed this on their 991.2 GTS. Anyone? Does it work? Is it easy? Which size did you get?

 

Not sure how much overhang you have on the GTS. I have it on my .2 C2S and it works fine. I bought the medium bracket, easy to install and stays fixed. I attached a couple of pics showing installation. I highly recommend it.

In California, the problem is "or two." The first ticket is a fix-it ticket. The second time it happens, the officer can write you up for a non-correctable offense under CVC 40610. It's not clear what happens then, but at a minimum it would probably require an appearance in court! This happened to someone I know, but I can't recall the final outcome.

 

Thanks, everyone. I notice on their website they recommend getting an extra small, but I've seen others here recommending a medium size. Why the discrepancy? Does it matter?

 

Depends on which model and which bumper you have.

 

That's why I'm trying to find those who have a 991.2 GTS (mine is a Targa) who've installed the Skene front license plate holder so they can tell me 1) which one they installed (size), 2) whether it was relatively easy to install, and 3) whether they'd recommend it.

 

Ah. I can only tell you from prior experience with a different car that it was easy to install and I would recommend one if you have to have a front plate. Based on that experience, when I first got my 991.1 TT, I bought a Skene but (knock on wood) have yet to install it. It's been so long I don't recall what size I got and it wouldn't matter for you anyway, because my car has a different bumper from yours. I suggest you take a pic of your bumper and ask Skene directly which size they would recommend.

 

The medium provides adequate bearing surface for the 2-sided tape which is further secured by the installation of the screw. The extra small and the small bracket will not be adequate in my opinion. Measure the the depth of the black upper flange. I just measured mine on the edge of the plate and read 2.75 inches. It should be a bit deeper at the center of the bumper. If you have anywhere near that depth, do not get anything smaller than a medium bracket.

 

I'm now in your shoes. Did you end up installing a bracket from Skene and if so what size? Happy with the experience? Thanks!

 

I put one on my 991.2 and its perfect.

 

I have it on my 991.2 GTS and it does what it’s supposed to do. I can’t recall which size but they should be able to tell you via email. I purchased a miniature drill set due to tight space where the holes needed to be drilled.

 

I ended up installing the Skene design plate holder after they tightened down in my area on no-front-plate tickets. It worked fine and no visible holes.
But I later found that I wanted a holder that I could easily remove for events like cars and coffee when I didn't want a front plate showing. So while I was pleased with Skene, I removed it in favor of a Sto 'N Show. https://bigmikesperformanceparts.com...sto-n-sho-101/
