Sorry for any confusion. Yes, I was referring to a mechanical LSD as a "True" LSD.

Nathan, I had thought the gearing was shorter for certain ratios, not necessarily the final drive ratio.
But, from the PDF I found for P/N's, I'm not seeing anything listed for a T specific gearbox, so to your point, it might be an S/GTS gearbox.

What I'm thinking is that the S/T/GTS manual gearbox is a mechanical LSD from the factory and the Base is an open diff.
I'll try to spin the rear wheels on my car when it's up in the air next time to see if they spin in the same direction.

T gear differences were just same final drive as S/GTS, not new per gear ratios

Has anyone tried this yet? Looks to be in the 4 to 5k range with the cost of the diff from OS being <3k. I am also interested in shortening the effective drive ratio

Interested as well. I contacted OS who just pointed me to a shop in CO. The shop in CO gave me a one word reply “yes” when asked three questions about installation on a PDK T. Woops. I’m going to experiment with adjustable sway bars on the T first. I just need a _little_ more grip in the rear for some corners on the track.

Customisation OS Giken

Progress. There is quite a bit of customisation required for the OS Giken to work. But it has all been done and is ready to bolt in early next week.

The stock setup with PTV is very weird.

Brief up date. It was in the car and the car is working. Which is great news. However my race mechanic said it was far too aggressive on acceleration, and not aggressive enough on coast.

So he has pulled it out and made adjustments. It goes back in this afternoon and tested again tomorrow morning. Hoping to pick the car up tomorrow afternoon.

So the diff comes with three different plates, Agressive, Medium and Soft.

He said he is setting accel up 30% and decel 70%. I don’t know what that means. 🤣

I will ask tomorrow. He said on the test drive it left two very black lines going around the corner, onto the on ramp. He is a very competent driver.
It will be epic. I can’t wait.

I think guard run 60/40 so 70/30 is a bit more aggressive on decel and a touch more open on accel, should find big improvement in braking stability with those numbers.

Also looking forward to your impression!

I have the car back. I have only driven it about 20 miles. Its solid. It’s exactly what I wanted. The car has so much drive, its awesome.

I have a track day tomorrow. I can’t wait.

The track day was epic. The mechanical diff has made the car pure. It is so predicable on the limit. Its a new level of stability under brakes and even over bumps. I just don’t want to drive anything else anymore.

It was a painful, expensive process, and I’m so glad i did it. It feels like I have removed more nannies and the car is calmer. The nannies are over protective and panic all the time, whereas the car is super chilled now.

No noises, no clunks. Its quiet, and I have next level drive. I can get on it earlier, and it gives pure feedback. No sudden step outs. When it starts to slide, the slightest imputs bring it back.

It’s a joy to drive. It feels like i could use more brake pad now and more power. 🤣. Tial M660’s are ordered.

That's so awesome. yeah... modern cars, too many nannies. A good ole mechanical diff is the way to go and OS Giken has been awesome in every application I've heard of it being used.

Hey Kris, I’m in Brisbane, Australia. I have a proper race mechanic that does all the work on my car. Inside his shop, he rents a space to Diff-Lab as well. Cheers.

Not yet. I was loving it si much, i wasn’t handing the keys over. 🤣. Actually the day was cut a little short. A 488 Ferrari went off into the gravel and never got it turned and hit the tyre wall. He was perfectly fine, but the car has minor damage across the front and all down one side. Even though minor, there is a lot spread across it, so probably a write off.

Two months ago, Ferrari pit crew were there for other owners. They offered this guy to tighten his wheel lugs as they said 488’s come loose. He said fine. The car was hot, and they must have over tightened them. He went back out and within two laps his front wheel sheared all 5 studs snd came off. Lucky he never crashed. Caused wheel and caliper damage. Ferrari took responsibility and covered the $9k in damage.

anyway day cut short and no passenger laps or car swaps for me that day.
