I'm tempted to get Guard LSD + APR tune. I do like the fact that I've been learning how throttle can destabilize a car, and how entry speed is so important. I miss the sensation of a torquey acceleration out of a turn after a good heel and toe that I felt in my 996 4S. Perhaps the LSD can allow me to experience that again. I still can't believe how commuters like Nick Murray get away with blathering on about what an amazing car the base is. It is not a driver's car. I love how mine is optioned, and it's beautiful, and although I peep at autotempest and dream about a GT3 touring, it seems like the most prudent thing to do is make these upgrades for the time being.

Have you compared the cost of swapping for an S? Just curious as they are priced in the mid 80's and come with LSD plus more oopmh and braking. I've thought a lot about, among other things, tuning my car. I also thought maybe adding LSD would be good but I am not sure if the cost is worth it given you can get more car plus LSD for not a very big increase in price. I'm assuming that base Carrera's are going mid 70'S at this point.

You are welcome, and, yes, I believe they were 295s. Some from Porsche were grumbling about this, but I was shocked at how well the cars worked in very cold temps and then also in not-so-bad temps. Epic drives, those days. I can certainly see where ground clearance would be the issue with Sport PASM or GT suspension—it makes perfect sense, and things only get a little better with standard PASM...

Carrera + LSD/final drive + suspension upgrade + GT4 shifter + less sound deadening is effectively a Carrera T without RAS and PSE, which is pretty attractive to me. Makes no financial sense vs swapping to a T/S/GTS, but if it's a matter of upgrading the car you've got over time…

Finally. I have a highly modified GTS and i am constantly lighting up the inside wheel at the track. I am wanting a 1.5 way locking mechanical diff.
Does anyone know if all GTS have PTV or PTV+ or did you need to spec that?
I also want a full mechanical option.
I was spinning the wheels so much at the track, the diff heated up so much I got a “Front diff failure’” warning on the dash. The funny thing is, my car is NOT a 4. So it doesn’t have a frint diff. I came in and it cooled down and was fine.
but i am loosing drive out of the corners for sure. I want more power, but there is no use until we get a mechanical diff.

I know Guard doesn't make one for the PDK, only manual. It also looks like OS Giken makes an LSD for the PDK for 2012-15 cars. Contact them to see if they have anything in the works.
