Will the CTEK US 3300 work for a 2016 991? I have the Porsche maintainer and I believe it is defective. Thanks!

I use a CTEK 3300 on my 2015 GTS. Been using it for 3 yrs with no problems. I plug it into the footwell 12V socket.

The Porsche Battery Maintainer is crazy expensive in my country and there's no way I'm going to expend that kind of money on a simple battery charger. Unfortunately I can't find CTEK's but I do have some other choices like Bosch (C3 or C7 model). Does anybody know if this ones would work ? I imagine that they would.... at the end of the day, it's a simple battery.

Another alternative would be the Optimate5 or Optimate6

Just curious, why does one need a battery maintainer? Is it because one does not drive the car for extended periods of time? If so, how long do the periods of non-driving have to be to justify using a battery maintainer?

Correct. I used mine when the car was off the road for 6+ months (Canadian Winters suck as it relates to my P-car ownership). I also use it when I'm not driving my Boxster for a few weeks at a time ...
