From Wikipedia:
The Porsche 993... Its discontinuation marked the end of air-cooled Porsches, with the 993 being the last air-cooled 911. The 993 generation of the 911 is often referred to as the best and most desirable of the 911 series, not only because of its beauty, but also because of its great performance, even by modern standards. The 993 is quoted as "the last complete 'modern classic'"; "the 993 was and forever will be that last fresh breath of air that Porsche gave the world; elegance and muscle all in one package."[3] The book "Porsche 993 - Essential Companion" refers to the 993 as the "King of Porsche," and it is generally acknowledged as "The purists' Holy Grail."

Default 993 Headlights

The 964 imo was a better looking car than the 993. The 996 taught us that you cannot muck about with the headlights without changing the character. Must drive the propeller heads in stutgart crazy as the bug eyes have to create drag.

One purist's opinion: I owned a 993 (1995 C2 Coupe) for nearly 17 years. It was a great car, even by modern standards. Holy grail is probably pushing it. My biggest complaint was - actually I had no complaints at all. Love.

The Carrera T is better. Full stop.

cheers!

I had the dreaded conversation with my SA. My C2 base isn't happening. Disappointed yes, but at least I get that small modicum of relief that moving on allows.

Allocation or lack of further production?

Did you have a commission number but not V200 status?

Gents,

we have in EU new regulations for emissions starting 01st Sep. All cars being registered after that date will probably need a particle filter. That might be a cause for the interruption.

what a graphic. They should have hit 996 with “the ugly stick” just to add character to this thing. I personally love Ms. 930, looks like she’s had a bit of excitement.

I had a commission number, never a V200 status. SA didn’t have much else to offer as far as alternative model allocations. He offered to try and find something close to my spec already on the ground or wait for the 992. I pulled the plug and got my deposit back, no harm no foul.

Man thats unfortunate. Its gonna be a while till the 992 hits the showrooms. Hopefully you get a great deal on a lot car from them before the 992 comes out. What was your build code?

Do you really think they are going to be twiddling their fingers until 992 production starts in late 1Q or early 2Q 2019? My Magic 8-Ball says there will be a gradual winding down of 991.2 production, concurrent with a gradual ramping up of 992 production.
I agree with this guy!

i don’t have my build code handy right now but it was a base Carrera with Azzurro California Metallic PTS over LTS mahogany leather. A sand castle in the sky. Oh well.

Sorry to hear that, are you sure it wasn't specifically because of PTS? They are definitely still building "regular" 911s as of right now but I don't know for how much longer (saw a bunch on the factory line), so maybe your dealership had no more allocations left for this Fall/Winter 2018 after the factory summer close? Did you try looking with another dealership? Worse case scenario hopefully you can find something on the lot you like (it sure as hell won't be PTS with LTS unfortunately lol). Wanted to spec my C4 but found something very close and got it at a small discount/much faster to boot

In my opinion the current bodywork for the Boxster isn’t “soft” enough to appeal to female buyers, and the car isn’t super interesting for men either. I greatly prefer the previous generation of Boxster.

+1, you took the words right out of my mouth, and from 100% of the ex-981-buyers who did not buy a 4 banger 718 ... Porsche only have themselves to blame for the failure of that model line. I could have done a 4 banger if at least it sounded glorious... It really doesn't, from personal experience, not magazine reviews... IMO, and I say this as a 356-911 guy for my entire life, I always thought those were the best handling cars from the brand and I enjoyed 3 of them over the years... The day I sell my 991 (which will be the next-next time a COV fails because I'm fed up with this) will be to trade for a used 981 spyder as a last hurrah for gas cars... My commuter is electric and 100% reliable all the time, because there's like 3 moving parts and no vacuum anything that I know of ;-)
