Default Passat: The Entry 911

I saw a Passat on my drive home today with an “NTRY 911” license plate.

Does that make the 911 an upmarket Passat?

Seems like that plate would make more sense on an old beetle or something with the engine actually in the back. Maybe the salesman told him the Passat has it in the back?

My son has RCKTMAN on his '12 Jetta GLI- (very cool little car) only because he is an Aerospace Engineering student- likes calculating orbits for fun and tutoring advance calculus.
VW's make great daily drivers for us German car addicts. My DD is the old style, stubby '17 Tiguan. Really solid, well made (German) car. No 911 for sure, but pleasant car to drive.

The latest US Passat is a bloated POS. The only relation to the 911 is the fact that they are both German and part of PAG.

I heard the 992 will have a 8 turbo 1 liter, customer deliveries to start Fall 2019 and first boost spool-up arriving Summer 2020.

My daily driver is a 11’ GTI MT 4dr. Chipped it and upgraded the turbo down tube with APR. Awesome little car. About the same size and weight as the 911 just makes 200 hp less and doesn’t handle as well, but still rock solid little car that is more than enough power and handling for a daily and almost 100K later still feels as solid as the day I bought it. Probably get another when I wear this one out.

My daily is a 2017 Alltrack. I used to prefer Audi Avants but the VW is a very nice car for a lot less.

I have a new Passat, “r line” that I use for work. Not a bad car, decent mpg/pickup for a mid size Camry fighter. I think I got close to 8k off sticker at the time of purchase.

But definitely not a 911

GTI is all kinds of fun. My son would love that car, but he will need to make do with the GLI. Our GLI is 6 years old, only 37k miles, paint is excellent, interior shows no wear at all. Except for defective paint on the front fender when is was new (corrected by VW), we've had no issues at all with it. It's been through two kids and has a long way to go. Build quality on the German made Tiguan is notably better though.
